Superfights and unifications are absolutely grand, but history shows us they don't always happen. We can pummel Crawford all we want, but his last appearance was against a Ring-rated top-10 contender whereas Spence has been on the shelf for almost 11 months. Was Crawford supposed to pitch his tent and wait for Team Spence to get around to things. Better yet, was Crawford, his lack of supposed business accumen aside, expected to ignore the murmurs of PBC having money issues? Or should Crawford have just ignored the calendar and hoped another fighter would get his agenda in gear and hitched his wagon to that, sort of like Team Ennis in 2022? Fighters fight.
I know, I know. Spence had yet another auto mishap, but THAT occured before Spence had anything firm on his dance card beyond rumors. Further, Keith Thurman, at 154, no less?
