That's true, but maybe Top Rank know's something about the fighter that we don't.

Looks like this is the third fight, to go with Fulton v Figueroa 2 and Matias v Ponce. Might have to check this one out.

Especially if he win's in by a fight ending spectacular knockout, he'll have finally established himself as a main event fighter.

As for Joseph Adorno vs Elvis Rodriguez, I'm looking for Adorno's power to take out Rodriguez in the mid round's after a spirited firefight.

By the end of their fight's on 2/25/2023, Matias should be win the IBF 140 pound title, and Adorno should be closing in on one at 140 himself.
He should be headlining cards after this, but I don’t see the other 140 lbers lining up to fight him. Matias is a monster and will continue to be avoided. I would love to see a fight between him and Gary Antuanne Russell set up. They’re both under the PBC banner so it shouldn’t be hard to make.

Matias vs Russell, would be a great fight, the other 140 pound fighter's won't be able to avoid him much longer. It's their opportunity at a title shot for them, one that doesn't come along on a regular basis. Matias will also have an opportunity to unify the title's, and possibly go for undisputed supremacy. Everything is predicated on Matias first winning the vacant title against Ponce, if he does the opponent's will definitely turn up to challenge him for the championship.

I was thinking that too, maybe there was a money issue or something else and top rank just took advantage of the loss to can him
