Benavidez. He has yet to fight Plant. As for 'ducking' Benavidez, it is patent nonsense. Canelo fought Bivol. Bivol would beat Benavidez senseless and knock Benavidez out, if not end the man's career. Benavidez is an ego fighter and oe understands he wants the big payday, but he certainly has not earned it. Not yet.

Ryder didn’t beat Zach Parker, Zach Parker broke his hand at the end of the 4th round and retired on his stool, requiring hand surgery. Zach Parker was getting the better of Ryder.

Also, Ryder’s win over Daniel Jacobs wasn’t all that. Jacobs current form is really not too good, his last 2 wins are against a past his peak Julio Cesar Chavez Jr who had just lost to Anderson Silva, and Gabriel Rosado, who himself has 26 wins to 16 losses, and who’s form hasn’t been great for quite some time. Jacobs is past it, his loss to Ryder says more about Jacobs decline than it does about Ryder’s skill.

Benavidez doesn’t have the quality wins I’d like to see of him, but he does have a history of stopping opponents that have never been knocked out before and a couple of decent names on his resume. I’d like to see the Plant fight, that will give us a better idea of where Benavidez stands.

David fought his way back into top contention by fighting Lemieux? I find that to be quite laughable.

David is great at knocking out a couple of gate keepers. Therefore why would Canelo be interested?
