    2. He got teary eyed sometimes because he had a deep understanding of something that you overlooked perhaps. Like me getting pumped that Gatti destroyed Dorin in two rounds while everyone else was dissapointed they didn’t get a war. They didn’t get it that if Gatti goes rounds with this guy then he will get destroyed against anyone in the top 10. Ended up being the case anyway but that’s not the point.

    3. You’ve never said or done anything you regret? Never just doubled down n started rolling the dice over and over even though you could hear a clearer headed version of yourself saying “stfu”?
The right call, but a terrible call. Yea

He was emotionally unstable, crying at inappropriate ties to cry.

Never anything as cringe as ****, ****, **** lol.

He was calling wrong for years too.

Soto/Lorenzo should not have ended with the wrong guy walking away with the belt.

Call it a no contest if it must, take points off if needed, the problem was that the shot was glancing, and the fighter drenched in blood who was soundly battered, walked away with a W.

      Cortez got it wrong.

Funny people defend him for that, but claim he got it wrong when Floyd legally hit Ortiz off the break and Cortez did nothing (because it was legal).

Not sure if lamp has the cognition to still do fights. bernstein on showtime is still great but the others surrounded by him are not. espn's whole crew is horrific. pbc is ok could be better. paulie maginali is back calling smaller promotional fights.

I miss the HBO broadcasts for boxing they felt classier with no cheesy cheap production but Jim is done he's shot to bits

Lampley also relied on the guys around him to ask them what a fighter should be doing like Foreman then he assessed his own view . It’s not just about a commentator it’s about how they feed off each other which is why at times today it’s broken up and not as fluid . Bernstein is the best so it’s easy to look good around him he articulates what’s going on and what fighters should be doing . Commentary isn’t bad today it’s just they are really paid to be biased even more now . DAZN seems to do this less overall and even Hearn tells you when his guys lose that win ,no other promoter really does that either .

Gotta disagree with you on the ESPN take. I’d pick them over PBC/Fox ANY day of the week—Goossen and Lewis are just God awful most of the time. They miss EVERYthing and tend to get stuck on things not related to the fight. Mancini was TRASH!

I actually miss Paulie more than anything! He, Bernstein, and Mauro were a trio for the books! Mares just chaps my ass nowadays….low energy and always seems to be a half-step behind calling the action.

I believe DAZN hired the same on-site production team HBO had, just not their commentators. It's still that that same lady with the headset who was doing in the in-ring stuff for HBO for many years.

But yeah, commentary has been pretty lacking.

Those talking about Lampley not calling the exact punch; at least he was trying to call action, rather than going off on tangents and inside jokes, taking jabs at Mora all show.
