Comments Thread For: Hearn: Canelo Wants Rematch With Bivol; Discussion Really Is, Does That Take Place At 175 Or 168

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez will have some hard choices to make in the year ahead. Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing and Eddy Reynoso--Alvarez's manager and head trainer--are doing their best to map out a proper 2023 campaign for the four-division champ and reigning undisputed super middleweight king. A mandatory title defense is likely next in store for Guadalajara's Alvarez, who is still considering a potential rematch with WBA light heavyweight titlist Dmitry Bivol.

Biviol @168lbs ? He's never fought so light he's a light heavy for a reason....! Hearn will try to talk Canelo out of fights he wouldn't be favourite to win , it's no different to the business plan with Anthony Joshua .The difference being , although Canelo is up for easy money he also wants a legacy ...Joshua wants to buy one.

Very good options for Both, canelo n bivol. Bivol can be tempted by the legacy aspect and go for undisputed at 68. And I know canelo haters bn on ryders case. I had no clue he was mandatory so I don’t knock him now. I ocanelo winning the rematch. Crazy how everyone underestimated bivol before and now don’t give Alvarez a chance.personally I thought they would have reverted back by now to calling bivol a “cherry-pick “. So if canelo wins they’ll have to give him credit. The rematch was built up nicely. I wonder if any canelo haters became mayweather fans? Lmao I recall a lot of white ppl hating him and now seemingly the same “demographic “ hating canelo imagine these clowns now love Floyd lmao great time in the sport when everyone united through hate. Everyone knows it now that blacks are scared of Mexicans n even their own race. *******

Actually ya he has fought at 168 before he fought at that weight as an amateur also. He would school canelo at any weight he’s too fast powerful technical and footwork is untouchable. He could KO him at 168 tbh he’d be that much faster

Surely it's WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF?

I suspect a well prepared Canelo will baffle and beat up Bivol in the rematch. He has plenty of hand speed and head movement to get under jabs and away from Bivol's punches to get quick, hard counters in. Things he wasn't able to do in the first fight due to poor conditioning and underestimating Bivol.

Even so, he should stay away from that jazz. It’s merely a ploy to weight weaken him

In order to compete with The Bivols elite fitness, canelo would have to sacrifice power, 168 would be slightly better for him, bivol could be tempted to go down, he has an excellent team, and probably could make weight, I'd say he should tell hearn and canelos team fight again at 175, after that fight, do a fight at 168, this would maximise his earning, plus he would most probably beat canelo there times in a row.
