    Funny you mention Johnny Winters
I saw him live in small venue
Twice , the second time playing out of the chair
Poor guy but what a guitarist he was , even old

      That’s my thing now
I love catching bands in small venues and most of the time when they’re not known
      I saw Kravitz twice
He opened for the Cult , to this day never saw an opening act get an encore
      ****in crazy
Thought the guy stole the show , nope. The Cult was on fire that night
Ian and Duffy like mick and Keith or plant and page

That's what happened to me with Simple Minds, a band that was good enough for my taste in the early 80s. I saw them in a small tent, literally, with very few people in attendance. Soon they graduated to opening for Peter Gabriel, then exploded around 1984. But when they released "Don't You Forget About Me" I knew it was already over for me.

I had their 1st album on tape cassette. I always seemed to like the 1st album or 2 of bands then they take a commercial turn and thats normally it. Cure, Clash, Stranglers, Talking Heads, Robert Cray, Dinosaur Jr. The bands think they are evolving though. Also, bit like boxing, after a while its all about the money instead of and about the money

All true. But, for some reason, The Stranglers have retained a soft spot in my listening pleasure, while I never bought into the myths of Clash and The Cure, and also found Talking Heads a little overrated.

Indeed I admit a genuine fondness for "Skin Deep", a song that is probably hated by the earlier era aficionados of The Stranglers.

Been debating that one - I was gonna include Ajagba vs Rivas but I was thinking to pass on this one cos it's too far down the food chain (Boxrec 28 vs 32). Although the bookies actually have it really quite tighht so it could potentially be an interesting one.

not hated ... but that'll be me - Rattus Norvegicus - my kind of music - the keyboard playing of Dave Greenfield saw him voted best keyboard player in rock at least once if not twice by NME - Just Get a Grip on Yourself!
