Comments Thread For: Warren on Hearn, Matchroom: 'All I Keep Seeing Is Fighters Are Leaving Them'

Frank Warren thinks a fighter exodus is happening over at Eddie Hearn's Matchroom. The Queensberry head has noticed that several of the fighters who were under contract with Hearn have left the promoter for Boxxer, the rival promotional company that has an exclusive output deal with Sky Sports. It is an ironic development, given that Hearn used to be the flagship promoter for Sky.

Fish eyes salivating. Exaggeration yes, but wise fans saw the decline coming. It’s a business and Mr Hearn was waving his **** around when pumped up on DAZN £, like a kid who has too much sugar. Now that it’s falling apart, he has no allies.

I was wondering why Andrade left. Eddie has no stable for top level fighters to face. They're all with PBC and Top Rank.

“You go on ‘Dead-Zone’ (DAZN), you don’t get seen,”

You do get seen on DAZN, but not so much by the UK casual fans that UK based fighters want to be seen by.

I think Fish Eyes is right about a lot of this. He has had some really bad times but he hung in there & now look at his stable. I really think the troubled times Hearn is dealing with is part of the reason Fury/ Joshua didnt happen in December. If Joshua loses that fight his value really goes down & then what does Hearn have left? Canelo can jump ship at any time as he signs short deals now. GGG is old & fading so Joshua is his only real big meal ticket. He will milk that cow for as long as he can. 2 rebuild fights i see coming with Whyte & someone else before a possible cashout vs Wilder or Fury. Maybe both? Hearn could end up like Mick Hennesey…

Lol someone said Andrade. Andrade can't sell and no one watches his fights and no promoter wants him. That's why they only bid 300k on the purse bid of his recent fight

He's not wrong. I haven't watched a Matchroom card since they left Sky. That said, I can see why he left Sky too. Every half decent fight was being put on PPV and Sky are obsessed with women's sports currently. The budgets for standard fight cards were clearly low. I'll watch an occasional Boxxer card as I have Sky anyway, but not overly impressed with what they're selling either. CEJ Vs Smith as a PPV for example is BS.

I don't know if Warren should be criticizing Hearn. That seems like the devil criticizing a murderer.

From the man who just gave us Fury Vs Chisora (again)...

People here seem to like those bum fights tho.

Honestly, British boxing is a mess right now. Tons of platforms, very few cooperation and everyone making mediocre fights against over-matched opponents. None of the promoters there are succeeding at the moment imo and it's disgusting in 2023 that Matchroom are the only cards consistently available in the US. I hope a couple more of these outfits go under or merge with another stable. SKY, BT and DAZN is probably the maximum amount of outfits the UK can handle and have decent matchups without guys fighting across platforms. I'm not optimistic about the state of British boxing going forward. It really was better off when it was just Hearn vs Warren and Sky vs BT, now the product has become too watered down.
