Hey he's a clever guy and ATG regardless. But the fact is he basically confirms it himself here by saying he would advise someone to fight a smaller less risky guy - so he clearly takes his own advice and does that exact same thing. That's his logic, period.
He was clearly saying that if Floyd doesn't want to take risks, fight the smaller guys (aka don't fight mosley cuz he'll lose).

Hopkins took risks. Sure he fought a few smaller guys here & there but that's after beating everyone in his own division, not too mention going up to LHW at age 40 and taking on the man there, etc etc etc.

Again, he's saying if floyd wants the easiest path, don't fight shane. he's not saying that's what he did in his own career.

You guys reading into it too deep. He's saying if he was Floyd's promoter, he'd advise him not to fight shane cuz he knows shane will whoop his ass.

wait until Floyd hears this. His response will be so funny. He will carve Hopkins up talking about all the small guys he has fought. Its also funny talking about size when you have a guy who stayed in one division until he was 40 and until he had to move up because he lost twice in a row. Thats like Floyd staying at SFW his whole career or just finishing up at LW. Even Hopkins himself was trying desperatly to get a Mosley fight at one time

Bernard Hopkins is full of sh.it, First off he fought oscar de la hoya, he was calling out Shane Mosley after the de la hoya fight and he tried to fight Vernon Forest. He had to become a vegetarian to make 160

Hopkins's comments sound cynical, but boxing is a cynical sport. At the end of the day it's all about the green.

That's quite an eye opener and in sight.

Is that what he's been told in the past then?

Surely that's saying, I've applied that logic to my own career?

Big statement there really, because for me, it is.

              Boxing is a MUG's game.

Only idiots and ignorant people go into Boxing. The only ones that make any money are those with rotton Promoters. Anyone with even a little bit of common sense will agree. Nobody could care less to the guys who have permanent injuries and financial problems etc.

Hopkins made a good point. Nobody could care less about records and such. It's about the money. Sugar aint going to make anything facing Clottey or Cotto.

Only the big names. Likewise, Mayweather aint going to make anything facing nobodies, and he aint going to risk his money-marketing tool (his undefeated record) on someone big (like Cotto) with little financial reward.

I doubt Mayweather cares if he lost 10 times. As long as he makes money from idiots willing to pay $50 to watch him prance about a ring for 30+ mins just because he is undefeated, he'll take it.

Face it. Boxing is a joke. The only bigger joke out there is UFC/MMA

              __

As for Hopkins facing smaller guys. Hopkins and Maywether are two completley differenct people.

Hopkins was considered too old when he faced Trinidad, and who was MW Champ. Trinidad was expected to KO him into retirement.

As for DLH, Hopkins was infact smaller, coming in at 156lbs to DLH's 158.

Difference between Hopkins and Mayweather is, that Hopkins' biggest fights were against these guys. And any Size difference is negted by the fact that Hopkins is way way too old to still be in the ring.

Where as Mayweather could face 100+ others rather than Hatton or Marquez. Especially since he is 32, and arguebally the best shape of his life.

End of the day, it's about Money. If Big names want to face Hopkins and take advantage of the fact he is ridiculous old, but get schooled, that's their own fault.

Which is why i find these Pac, Cotto, Myweather, Hopkins, British Fighters, RJJ Fanboys all ridiculous and pathietc

These guys couldn't care less about the "Public". Their people at the end of the day, and are looking out for their own intrest.

Well Maybe Hopkins can be cut some slack, since he has done lot for charity from what i know.

But even then, everyone is doing their own thing, don't know why people act so surprised when they say it how it is. Same with any Sport.

Which is why i always tell people, dont get too into it, it's going to make no difference to your life what they do and who wins/loses

I aint mad at Bernard for instigating it but he overdid the job and had Kellerman calling for help...

If Floyd fights Cotto, Pac, or Mosley I'd give him props...

Any of those fights can present challenges to him...

When Mayweather tried to pursue a **** fight with Spinks, it's a good thing that HBO turned it down. It's just that he chose another **** opponent in Baldomir. And don't make that some victory that appears better than it was. The dude got shut down by Forrest with shoulder problems and struggled against a bum on one of those Spanish networks.
