Plant's timing on that hook was pretty darn perfect despite what you may think of either fighter. KO of the year? Maybe, maybe not; still a near-flawless execution.
I honestly believe Plant will expose El Bandera Roja. Happy to eat crow on that, but he simply has a better ring IQ IMO.
That KO from a weak slap that sent Helenius to the canvas should be top of the 'Dive of the year' list.
Big Jugs pummeling of the mighty Oilskin and eventual knockout was far more impressive.
Parker went out on his shield. Helenius went out on a brown envelope.
I honestly don’t think you have the faintest idea what you observe on film. Then again, many can literally see something on film that’s obvious but will convince their minds they did not see what the rest of the world clearly saw. But, to each their crazy own I guess.
I mean it’s not even in dispute that Wilder is one of the hardest punchers in all of boxing history. Helenius was being set up for that punch and this is one of the first fights I ever witnessed Wilder using excellent boxing skills. He baited Helenius into that shot. What you call a slap was a man over 240 pounds walking with all of his weight into one of the hardest KO artists in boxing history’s right hand. It didn’t take a full extension of his punch to reach the desired outcome. His eyes rolled straight to the back of his head.
The referee had to stop the fight twice in this one.
Once at the actual KO; then he rushed in again and physically stopped Plant from shoveling. That was the hardest I've seen a ref work after a fight was over.
I'm ok with this, the fight was actually competitive until the KO and nobody had done Dirrell like that before so it was impressive regardless of his age.
