Comments Thread For: McGuigan: Fury Could Be in For a Rude Awakening in Usyk Showdown

Former world champion Barry McGuigan believes Tyson Fury could be in for a very "rude awakening" if he collides with Oleksandr Usyk in a high stakes unification.

Usyk is a special talent, but Fury is a completely different level to Joshua.

McGuigan is right, Fury has become an arguably better fighter and a worse boxer since his return to the sport.

And he's going to need every ounce of boxing ability he can produce to beat Usyk and that's assuming he can beat him lest we forget Cunningham was outboxing and only withered after Fury was forced to use "big man" and illegal tactics...

“Believe it or not, this is gonna sound strange – Cunningham was the hardest fight I ever did have in my whole career, amateur or professional."

“The reason being he was very slippery. The way I explain Cunningham – it was like a Conger Eel all full of oil in front of me. I couldn’t pin him down."

“I come out here all confident, run straight onto an overhand right – down, I was looking up at Madison Square Garden’s roof and I thought: ‘Fúck me, it’s now back to the farm, boy, get up."

If he says this is about Cunningham and he's barely a dollar shop version of Usyk how's he going to cope with Usyk himself.

Lmao. No. 1. This dude says AJ is better than fury on the front foot? Laughable. AJ isn’t better at fury than anything except losing. Speed isn’t a huge difference vs fury because fury is much fast than AJ he moves like a middleweight himself

Fury is the greatest boxer and man to have ever walked the Earth. Watch him donate his entire Usyk purse to charity, just like he did for one of the Wilder fights. Let's not forget, he had it written in stone that he'd fight Joshua for free for the people, not his fault Eddie Hearn took that away from him. Viva La Fury. Nash out

Wilder in 3 fights only won rounds he got a knockdown in
Whyte and Chisora didn't come close to winning even 1 round

Usyk has the ability to make even Fury look cumbersome for a few rounds , Until the huge talent himself starts to solve the tricky skilled problem ...then it's all down hill for Usyk who will look increasingly uncomfortable.

Would be awesome if Usyk would show such respect to Rick Rude. I don’t think Fury can handle a Rude Awakening so if Usyk lands it, it’s game over for Fury!

You'd back Fury to figure out Usyk but not Usyk to figure out Fury? I think both have shown they are strong in that area.

At this level it comes down to who can make the adjustments. It will be an interesting one to watch.

                  If it happens.

Barry McGuigan hates Fury and anyone connected to Daniel Kinahan and MTK because MTK took McGuigan’s fighters. Even appearing in a documentary to snitch on MTK.

old Barry should never have been robbing money from his fighters, how many have taken him to court?

He’s desperate to see anyone affiliated with MTK lose but it’s not gonna happen with Fury.
