In my opinion Charlo should be higher than Crawford, has beaten better competition.

I think just being an asshole is partly the reason why you are not currently ranked on many P4P lists Charlo.Comment

I feel that he has fought all the tough fights, earned those victories unlike most other undisputed champs reigning right now. I don't understand the hate if they want to critique his skills and accomplishments. He is a very outspoken person who calls out bs when he sees one, even in interviews, so he may be right. It could just be that they don't like him, and if that's the case, why does it matter? He proved himself in the ring, and that's where his real work comes from.Last edited by Lance98; 12-15-2022, 09:05 PM.Comment

I didn't say the most respected list is infallible - you look at the list and see who is there and either agree with the list or disagree with the list. Ring magazine has him #9 and that is about where I have him.
what makes espn's list more respected than ring magazine or boxingscene or tbrb or boxing talk (lol, i dunno if it still exists) or any other "published" list? what makes aladdin freeman more of an expert than anyone on here posting their list? or ben baby...."Ben Baby is ESPN's NFL Nation team reporter focused on the Cincinnati Bengals." or eric woodyard..."Eric Woodyard covers the Detroit Lions for ESPN's NFL Nation team. In his current role, which he assumed in April 2021, he provides Lions-centric news"
it seems like you don't agree with the most respected list leaving jermell charlo off.Comment

I like you but I can't give a pass on this.
Andrade vacated his belt in order not to fight Jermell. He ducked him when he thought that he was the bigger name, and sat out for almost 2 years. Once the Charlos gained notoriety and championships during his inactivity, Andrade came back asking for the fights.
Both Charlos froze him out and refused the fight initially. But, Jermall eventually said that he would, that's until Andrade and his promoter tried to go around Haymon by offering Charlo 7 million to fight him on DAZN. Jermall turned it down, as he should, because he didn't want to destroy his business dealings with Showtime and Al, which is also where his promotional company, Lions Only, has an exclusive deal. But people call that a duck, laughable. My bad Hustle, meant to send this to the other guy.- Espinoza offered Andrade peanuts......$250,000 to fight Charlo
- Jermall turned down 7 million for Andrade because he said $7 million wasn't enough and then went on to fight Adams for 10 times less or $700,000.
- Lions Only promotions, owned by Charlo does NOT have an exclusive contract with showtime or any other network.

You may be right? Usyk was Undisputed @ CW, and now a Unified Champion @ HW. He should be ranked above Spence, and probably Crawford too!

I agree that popularity and name recognition usually play a part in P4P rankings. However all the people ranked higher than Charlo have a legitimate case to be ranked higher. Reasons like being undefeated, beating better opposition, proving themselves in multiple weight classes etc. Charlo also has a legitimate case for being included. P4P is a vague and subjective thing.Last edited by Apollo7; 12-16-2022, 05:19 AM.Comment

You are correct, but Andrade claimed that the Charlos were beneath him as his reason, and at the time none of them were making millions. He could have fought him and chose not to, but once he saw how much progress they made, with belts, publicity, and financially, during his inactivity; now he wants to fight and constantly calls them out.

Also, Jermall is signed to an exclusive contract with Showtime, so I assumed that his promotional company would be as well. He's right though, 7 million isn't enough to destroy his business dealings with Showtime and Al, and just the thought of taking that kind of backdoor deal that would increase the brand of someone he doesn't even like, win or lose, is sickening.
But years have passed, and Andrade is on Showtime now. So, I'm sure that is a part of the plan; they both could use the opportunity to gain public favor.Comment
