The Margarito fiasco gave it some weight, also retiring in your prime when there are so many good options out there doesnt help.

In my humble opinion, i can't stand Mayweather. Not because i'm a hater and i want to see him fail, but because it's disgusting how great he is. Call it cherry picking or ducking, but Floyd knows boxing. If it's one thing people cannot deny is his intelligence when it comes to boxing.

Aside from the business aspect; Mayweather can take any fight he wants. However, it's unneccessary. He has to carefully pick opponents so he can protect his record and make as much money possible. Now just so you don't get it twisted, I AM NOT A MAYWEATHER FAN, but i have discussions wit my partnah about his career. Winning fights and making money is what he's about. You can't hate on him for that. Sure he can fight a line of people: bums, elite, journey men, rookies, veterans, etc. but what's the point? I'm not going to go into details specifically about what fight he took and what he didn't take; that explanation would take too long. As far as his "greatness" is concerned, i don't think him managing his career will have any affect on his place in boxing history.

I'm not going to compare him to the great ALI, because when people refer to ALI they're talking about how great of a man he was, not only his boxing skill. Mayweather on the other hand, knows and understands the business of boxing.

i just find it difficult to begrudge someone a "retirement" or break from boxing considering how demanding it is. he cited his tired body and a lack of motivation as his reasons for the lay-off and how can you argue with that really? maybe i'm an optimist but if Margarito had beaten Mosley i'm sure he'd be on Floyd's to-do list now he's back just like i believe Shane is now (though Shane seems to be back of the queue unless he gets used almost as a time killer before Pacquiao/Cotto).

That excuse is normally money, which is all the more irritating given that he seems to be a bit of a scratcher in that department at the minute.
Gayweather is getting massacred again in this poll.

Unlike gayweather stans... most people have common sense.

If you say ur the best... you better prove it.

I have to say that before I posted the poll I expected it to run at about 80%

Fair points, but if thats the case then he hasnt got any business spouting about being the greatest of all time. As of now he is one of the greatest earners of all time within the sport, but thats about it. There are fights and challenges out there for him that could raise his standing. Lets not forget that Mayweather said that this comeback wasnt about the money.

In the gospel of Floyd,if you say it enough times you will find a few suggestive ******s that believe it.

I say gayweather ******s led by gayweather himself probably have a morning ritual in which all gayweather stans bend over to gayweather whilst saying

                  "YOU ARE THE BEST"

                  And gayweather replying in kind..

                  "IM THE BEST"

And they do it several times every morning of every day.

The denial is something worthy of guinness records.

Mayweather's place in history is secure. He's already accomplished plenty and is a great fighter who will one day make a speech at Canastota. But if he continues to go at this rate without truly testing himself at least once more, he'll fall short when measured against the ATGs.

Thats the thing. Its frustrating as hell! He has the tools and he has the opportunity to actually become the very thing he keeps telling us all he is! I very much doubt he will take that opportunity.
