Has Floyds cherry picking and poor conduct harmed his standing in history?

Just wanted to get a poll up about this. As a boxing fan Floyd has to be the most frustrating boxer of my lifetime. To me he is a guy with the most amazing set of attributes, ones most boxers would kill for,but there always seems to be an excuse why the fights that should happen, dont happen.

That excuse is normally money, which is all the more irritating given that he seems to be a bit of a scratcher in that department at the minute.

Cherrypicking -- yes. But at the lower weights, their is no question regarding his opposition. I'm saying yes from JWW until this fight with JMM. If he follows this up with the true WW, I'll rescind my answer.

Poor Conduct --??? sorry, don't understand this. IMO, he just plays the bad guy role very well.

We have to wait until he retires.....umm for real this time before we assess his legacy. There are fights out there that he can win in dominant fashion and be regarded as much higher than he currently would be on the ATG list....we just have to wait and see what he does.

Good post. To clarify my point about his conduct, what I meant was that he always seems to have had a hand in making sure that the fights we want to see him fight never happen. I couldnt give a toss whether the dining room on his jetski sits 12 or 16.

Yes it affects him. He wants more money rather than enhancing his legacy.

One can only speculate, but to me it seems as though keeping that zero against his record is far more important than being recognised as the best. I dont buy into the bs abou it being about money. If he fought the fights that would elevate his standing, then his purses would get bigger and bigger.

We will have to see what happens, but I am expecting to be disappointed. Floyd has an excellent opportunity to become known as possibly the greatest fighter of all time, but will he take the fights needed to facilitate this? Highly unlikely.

He still has alot of time to enhance his legacy. Let's just see how it plays out. He has potential to be greater than he his. He just needs to fight the right people now.

At this point in time.. absolutely.. he better stop being scared and actually fight top tier welterweights.. If you're the best in the welter division then fight people in that division .. stop fighting a over the hill oscar, a smaller and over-rated hatton, then have the nerve to try to rematch oscar.. then go away for 2 years cause you were running out of excuses then come back and fight a guy 2 weight classes below you.. grant Marquez is a great fighter ( in his division) not at welter.. Fight your own weight class and REAL IN PRIME FIGHTERS and win you will have my respect. ****.. even if you loose you will gain my respect because you finally fought someone thats worth it..

i think we have a good year or so before these ducking and cherrypicking accusations potentially hold any weight. all of these assumptions that he will flat out refuse to face Mosley or Cotto seem to be entirely based on a bit of **** talking on Mayweather's behalf. Pacquiao is the #1 priority for him, and rightly so as far as i'm concerned, but i'm fairly certain he will face at least one of Cotto or Mosley before retiring again. if he doesn't then maybe there will be a basis in reality for these claims.
