Roach: "Floyd Needs Pacquiao, We Don't Need Him"

I'm very happy that Freddy Roach has NOTHING to do with any of Manny's promotion and decision making in regards to anything besides his training. He is very good at what he does and I'm happy he's doing what he's so good at. Manny needs Floyd and Floyd needs Manny right now. As I've written in previous posts. . . THIS IS A BUSINESS and the two top guys is WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO SEE. . . Pacquiao is the little man who can seem to do the impossible by steam rolling bigger guys with his speed and tenacity and he seems to be becoming a better technical boxer and Mayweather Jr. is the guy who simply can't be beat. He's just that damn good. People have called for a Ricky Hatton type fighter, someone who will press him and take him off his game. But look what happened. They thought the Golden Boy had a very good chance to become the first guy to put a blemish on Floyd's undefeated record. Look what happened. All of Mexico was up in arms rooting for their man. All he received was the dignity of completing the fight.
Freddy Roach is doing exactly what he needs to be doing. Getting his fighter prepared for his next fight. And the guys who know the rewards of putting together such a fight in the right way will be doing just that. This fight not only will happen, it has to happen should Pacquiao be successful against Cotto.
A quick word on that fight. Cotto will be ready. He is not about to hand over a loss. That's just not him. Cotto has had a few surprises along the way as he's come up through the ranks. I hope his trainer "whom I've never heard of" (which means little to nothing) is really studying pacquiao. Is learning to cut off the ring and is keeping him ready to box also. Cotto needs all of his skills. For cotto to win a split decision isn't good enough for him. If Pacquiao wins a split decision, it will be very good for him. The fact that he beat Cotto will be enough to keep him as Pound for Pound best and signified as an all time great.
To many, should Pacquiao and Floyd meet if Pacman wins, he can retire if he wants to. If Floyd wins, to many, he was supposed to win. The curse of being great is that no matter what you do, it's never enough. This is the cross Floyd carries on his back. So far, he wears it well. It does make him a little sour at times in regards to him needing accolades but, his record remains in tact.

I agree with all that u said, it is a business and I would luv to see the fight. The only thing i have to say is, if Cotto can avoid deeps cuts (which i don't think he can) he has a very very good chance at gettin a win over PAC MAN. That being said its a business if Cotto lets it get to the judges he loses period, no matter what we think or who we think won the cards are not a safe place for Cotto in this fight.

Neither one of them needs each other. But Roach is bipolar or something, he keeps switching up his thoughts. He's becoming more full of **** than Mayweather and Arum put together. But Team Pacquiao will want Shane and PBF to come down to a ridiculous weight and lion's share....which is just ******. But Mosely being desperate for a big money fight makes him take it. But at any weight, PBF would make Pac look silly.

I have to disagree a little. Floyd needs to make more money. Not knocking him but it seems to be a fact.
Manny seems willing to explore other options, while I believe if Foyd does not fight Manny will have a very tough decision.
Does he fight Williams, Shane, Margarito, Cotto? I think the only guy Floyd really wans to fight is Manny "if" he wins.
"If" Manny beats Cotto then Floyd can get the money and fight the P4P guy that happens to be naturally smaller, to get his P4P ranking without facing the tougher comp.

the fight was a bust. Floyd couldnt stop a LW..was a pointless worthless fight that generated a lot of Money , mainly for Floyd....

see Floyd WAS ranked P4P #1 and kept claiming he doesnt need anybody ...and avoided every top WW before quiting for a year and a half. well Pac is now P4P #1 and he doesnt need someone who just fought his left over. Floyd better HOPE Pac wins because he wont go anywhere near Cotto. lol....

Lets say Pac beats Cotto, if he is looking for a big money fight who else is out ther that would bring the money Floyd might bring him?

Shane will ya wanna know why? Cause he wont have to split if it 50/50 w/Shane..so even if it overall generates less, he'll still get the bigger end instead of havign to negotiate with Floyd....

Forget about Freddie "the trainer" Roach. He's full of **** anyway. Bob Arum has already said Pacquiao "WILL NOT" be fighting Floyd next. They are clearly avoiding Floyd but Cotto's gonna smash Manny's ass any way.

I think you have some points....I see y all the talk is there for a Floyd fight but Cotto is no chump, over looking him is a big mistake and if they are doing that there will be no PAC vs PBF fight there will be PAC vs Cotto 2 cuz Cotto gone win, or Cotto vs PBF. Cotto is a top WW, to me he is 3rd behind PBF and shane. Sleepin on Cotto will end PACs streak and if it does fine cuz Shane vs PBF or PBF vs Cotto sound like good fights to me so i guess I rootin for Cotto then.....

floyds biggest paydays were only his recent fights against hatton and oscar, he never was really a big money draw before then. most people watched him in those fights because they thought he could lose, thats why the marquez fight did crap. people would actually watch him to win if he was exciting, unfortunately he only throws like 30 punches a round. i think a 60-40 would be good in favor of manny (that's if he beats cotto)

I think PBF should take 60-40 just to prove he can win then in the rematch he will get the bigger share. To bad pride and egos will prob never let this fight happen.

And the numbers are in Mayweathers favor. So who do you really think is the draw. I understand that you're worried for Pac though. After watching Money May do to Marquez what Pac couldn't. That being totally dominate him from start to finish.
