Comments Thread For: Stanionis-Ortiz: WBA Orders Dec. 12 Purse Bid Hearing As Negotiations Stall

Yet another pairing between unbeaten welterweights has so far failed to produce a signed and sealed deal. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the previously ordered Eimantas Stanionis-Vergil Ortiz WBA 'Regular' welterweight title fight will now head to a December 12 purse bid hearing. Once optimistic hopes of reaching a deal quickly hit a wall, as the WBA has since intervened to help move things along.

I'm hoping we dont get another Parker-Andrade Bid 2 situation, where one or both guys can say that money is too low to accept the fight.

A difficult one this ... can't really begrudge Ortiz not being willing to take it on a 25% split, but wish more boxers would back themselves to win - taking the small(er) payday now to hopefully set themselves up for huge fights down the line. Prepares them well for it as well. I mean what will Ennis learn from taking out the IBF number 4 in three rounds?

So they only got rid of the regular belts that were convenient lmao That needs a looking into in a major way IMHO. Estrada must fight franco...stripped. Tank must fight absolutely nobody...spence to. No push at heavy. This is just the a$$ side of the sport, and it's not just one promoter by the looks of it. It's like they are playing garbage belt roulette at different weights.

This is a big reason that boxing is a "sport" the same way these wba regulars are "champions"

As far as I can see it that belt doesn't equate to a shot in a timely fashion...want a real shot go ibf or maybe move up in weight as wbo...everything else is FUBAR. Not that guys haven't made some cash off it no doubt. But it almost seems like a dodge to keep bigger money fighters safe with "world title" status. It seems to go both ways to is the best part! Tank regular-no mandatory full belt challenge required. WBA at welterweight not a hot chance they get Spence...just awful stuff.

Why are there still so many WBA regular belts?

Why is there not a single belt per division?

There is one belt per division and it's the Ring Magazine Title. You have to fight the BEST in the division to get it. No. 1 vs No. 2
