  • Comments Thread For: Arum: 'In the United States, Eddie Hearn is Considered a Joke'

Bob Arum continues to view Eddie Hearn as a failure, at least as it pertains to the American promotional landscape. Arum, the nonagenarian founder of Las Vegas-based Top Rank, responded to comments Hearn made in a recent interview in which the Matchroom head suggested Arum is mentally incoherent because of his predilection for smoking

Bob has been kind of silent lately. Even had nice things to say about Crawford and Avan getting their purses but when it comes to Hearn...

It’s true. Rookie thought he could walk into a nation of 320M with completely different sporting passions and make new rules. No one in USA even knows who Eddie or dopey DAZN is

Preach Arum!! I've been saying this, Hearn always speaks on other promoters' fighters, fights, business, and sales that have nothing to do with him. Diarrhea of the mouth.

He’s a joke in the UK too Bob. He’s like the David Brent of boxing.

“One of the problems with Eddie Hearn is that he gets involved in everybody’s business. Everybody’s business is his. He predicts how a fight will draw on pay-per-view when he has nothing to do with the fight. Isn’t he better off concentrating on a fight that he’s promoting where he does have skin in the game than to talk about other people’s fights? But no. You put a microphone in front of him, it spews out a guy that can’t control himself and talks for the sake of talking.”

Bob is on point there, but doesn't Bob do that too?

Gervonta Davis Leaks $10 Million Offer From Eddie Hearn For Ryan Garcia Fight

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has leaked a $10 million offer for a fight against Ryan Garcia from Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn in what some believe is an annoyance at a comment the British promoter made to the media last Saturday night.

It’s unclear whether Tank Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) is getting more than $10M from PBC for the Ryan fight or if he simply leaked the offer from Hearn out of principle, not carrying that it was a better offer.

The email that Tank reportedly leaked from Hearn has not only a guaranteed $10 million but also a PPV bonus to be agreed upon. It sounds like good money for the fight against the boxer / social media star Ryan Garcia.

“They’ve lost him,” said Eddie Hearn to the media about Gervonta Davis supposedly no longer with Mayweather Promotions. “The one thing I don’t understand about Gervonta Davis is why does he keep Tweeting and deleting it like ten minutes later?

It’s really quite annoying. Done one about me, and I went back to read it, and it was gone. Someone had screenshotted it, quite luckily. It’s quite strange. But he’s said a dozen times that he’s no longer under promotions with Mayweather Promotions.

“Maybe,” said Hearn when asked if he’s reached out to Tank Davis.

Some fans don’t like the idea of fighters leaking emails from promoters because it seems petty.

WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Gervonta is expected to fight Ryan Garcia in April on Showtime & DAZN. Also, Tank Davis is taking a risky tune-up against unbeaten Hector Luis Garcia (16-0, 10 KOs) on January 7th at the Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C.

Many boxing fans rate the Hector Luis Garcia fight as a far riskier one or Tank Davis than the one against Ryan, as we’re talking about a proven world champion with an Olympic pedigree.

Ryan Garcia hasn’t fought anyone at the pro level and didn’t have a comparable amateur career.

If Ryan had fought Devin Haney when he had the opportunity earlier in his career, people would know now if he’s the real deal, but he hasn’t. The best name on Ryan’s resume is Luke Campbell, who has never viewed an elite before retiring from the sport.
