The "WBC Franchise" belt appears to be extinct

    Championship History
Canelo at 160 lbs. (Vacated without defending after moving to 168 lbs.)
Lomachenko at 135 lbs. (Lost to Lopez, who lost to Kambosos, who re-unified the full title with Haney)
Estrada at 115 lbs. (Defended once and re-unified the full title with Gonzalez)

I think they felt the heat of the ABCs making the WBA strip all their interim champions and get down to one champ per weight class. The WBC was getting loose with it themselves between these franchise titles and all their recent interim champions.

Good that belt should've never been a thing in the first place.

Good. I would like to see all the sanctioning bodies disappear eventually, but at the very least they could stick to one 'world' title holder per sanctioning body. I notice the WBA's title reduction plan has stalled a bit recently. There remain seven 'regular' belts.

          Good.

Now strip every WBA Regular champion and erase them all from the history books. I don't ever want to hear anyone calling Lucas Browne or Manny Charr a world champion again.

            - - What grade U in that they don't allow you to follow boxing?

Franchise title was not a belt, it was a concept to honor Canelo and Loma to allow them to be their own matchmakers without being told what to do by WBC that has never been in synch with the most lucrative matches. They still Franchise champs who do what they want which is usually following the $$$ trail.

              Good.

It caused nothing but more confusion.

              There’s already enough.

It was a good idea at first. It was a symbol for qualified fighters who didn't have real WBC belts. It strayed from his goal because of r€tard casuals who don't follow boxing titles.
