i hope the news is true and not just hype (i.e arum) and thats good news for boxing ...
imho if that much casual fans bought that fight just to see floyd's comeback, how much more casual fans will buy ppvs when and if floyd fights bigger named opponents like PAC, Cotto and/or Mosley .... that will be giaganticComment

[QUOTE]Shane cheated in one fight my friend and has never tested positive before, during or since. I think Floyd beats Shane, but the fight should still be made. Mosley lost a close fight to Cotto and destroyed the man who beat him. No matter what anyone thinks, Shane is the top gun at welter and a win by Floyd would not only be a feather in his cap but would go a long way in silencing critics of Mayweather's (like myself) who complain he hasn't fought the top opposition at welterweight. Sure there will be people who will call Shane old, past it or whatever, but if Floyd beats him and than moves on to challenge and beat some of the other top fighters at 147 it leaves no room for criticism to an objective fan of the sport.
I get on Floyds **** because of his personality and cherry picking fights at welter. His fans that make every excuse as why he doesn't have to fight this one or that one only magnify that annoyance. But the truth is he is a great fighter. People like myself though aren't going to give him a pass for not making the toughest fights just to make the biggest money fights.
I don't have to like a fighter personally to recognize his talent and ability. I don't have to like him to recognize his greatness in the ring (even though I don't hold the Marquez win in high regard). But I do have to see him challenging himself and the best out there to recognize him as one of the all time greats. He has it in him, he just has to go get it.Comment

after fighting a 36 year old LW, now he is about to face a 39 year old...
how can that silence his critics?Comment

He does not need to beat the entire welterweight division to be considered top 25.
The kid started at 130 and has won titles in every single division he's been in. He's 40-0 and has beaten every possible contender put in front of him. He hasn't taken the easy road to get to where he's at.
IMO, he's already top 25. I cannot honestly name 25 better fighters than Floyd. I can barely name 10.Comment

Still, let's say Mosley's next fight is Floyd. If Floyd wins and Shane looks bad, people will just say Mosley either aged over night or was too rusty. Mayweather is only getting just credit for beating elite prime fighters bigger than him or great post-prime fighters bigger than him that give him hell. If they don't give him hell, their age will be exagerated. And guys smaller than him like Pac will also be dismissed.Comment
