Now that I think about it, we really shouldn't be that surprised by the numbers. Sure, it was loads and loads of Mexicans who bought the fight, but who cares? Floyd did his same exact shtick that he always does, but this time it was on a fresh audience and it played to them perfectly as it always does. Floyd built up Marquez perfectly to the Mexican fans, a few guys at work actually thought Marquez was going to win with ease by a KO. Of course I thought it was insane and was nice and kept saying... IDK man, I think Mayweathers got this. Granted, I thought it was going to be a much closer fight but knew Floyd would win, when I went in on Monday they were surprised and actually gained a lot more respect for Floyd because of how he did it. Yea, they had a lot of excuses especially the size but they were still giving the man respect.

Essentially Floyd could have just brought in even more potential money as now Mexicans will pay for any Mayweather just to see him get his ass kicked as they may never have really... heard Floyd before a fight and now they want to see him lose just as bad as everyone else. Sure, some may have bought the Oscar fight, but Oscar is far more an American draw vs a Mexican draw. This was actually a great PR move for Floyd IMO and perhaps all of boxing.

      Great news!!!
It is really great to see a person who is hated so much and yet he is doing so well.

It means " 0 " on the scale of 0-100

          like I said before,

          HEY HATERS

Do you guys know while you are Hating on Mayweather you are putting money in his pocket by supporting his fights in order to see him lose?

Why would Mayweather give you Haters what you want if he knows you are going to buys his fights anyways???

"It is like a Girl telling me she doesnt likes the way I treat her but that same night let me fuck.."

What I find funny is that HATERS called his fans nutthuggers but who is really the nuthugger if you dont like what he is selling but you still buy, watch and support what he is selling ?

You say he is Boring, but you support his fights?
You say he doesnt matter but you write and make threads about him?
You say he is the worst p4p fighter ever but you think a fight against any fighter weighing less than 1 pound than him is a mismatch?
You say he is bad for boxing but you write articles about him and keep his name alive?

At least His fans are liking the product his is selling ..instead of bitching and complain about the product but still watch, buy, write about, and support it...

What other Product in the world do you know that PEOPLE hate, but they still buy it?

That's is why Floyd is the biggest draw in boxing.
because he is getting money from people who love him and hate him
not even most religions can do that..
See, your problem is that you think everybody that criticizes Mayweather hates his guts. There are some people that do, sure. But I actually like seeing the guy display his craft. He just needs to do it against all comers. I wouldn't totally down play this victory over JMM if he fought Mosley afterwards. But he's going to use this big payday and PPV numbers to go back into retirement. I can't dig that man.

And the drought of high profile fights is the main reason why I ordered this fight, and I used the Tecate deal along with the other reasons why I said I decided to buy it. The competing UFC card was a factor and the fights below the main event other than John-Juarez were good fights. And of course I ordered the fight to see JMM. Not Floyd.

Some people see it as good news.. I see it as troubling news. While hardcore boxing fans might have enjoyed Floyd's "masterful" performance, casual fans that I watched the fight with said that after this fight they would never pay for a Mayweather fight again. They were disappointed that after all the hype with the 24/7's and the build up to the fight, neither fighter delivered any sort of excitement.

It was the same for Mayweather-De La Hoya... There was so much hype going into the fight but after the fight a lot of people were disappointed at Mayweather's unwillingness to engage. Boxing took a big hit since so many people were watching and so many people went home disillusioned and disappointed with the sport of boxing assuming that all big fights were the same.

If it is true that so many people bought the fight then I fear that although the fight may have been entertaining for May fans and people who love the sweet science, most casual fans want to see the fighters engage and because so many people chose Boxing over UFC this time, the turn off may be higher than usual. Like I said, many people I talk to have told me they'll never buy another Mayweather fight again after such a lackluster performance.

A lot of people in this forum watched the fight because they're boxing fans. After Saturday's performance I'm not so sure casual fans who look for blood and KO's will buy another Mayweather fight unless some other big name is in there like Pac or Cotto.

This fight was hyped as a comeback fight and I'm sure a lot of people thought that maybe Mayweather was going to change his tune and knock out the older smaller man. Too bad Mayweather disappointed everyone. I'm really interested to see how his #'s in the next fight go after a performance which in my opinion didn't appeal to the majority of casual fans.

Mayweather promoted the fight more than others fighters have. He got mix into wrestling promoting the fight there than came out with Triple H to get more none boxing fans interest.

Tut really this was all about Mexicans looking foward to have one of mexicos biggest victories with one of the most respected and beloved boxers. this ment alot for Mexicans and ofcourse they bought into Marquez chances to shut up Floyd. Floyd who only talks smack to sell, because his fights are boring considering he never has a real threat, but fights someone fans want to see win.

Hatton was a smaller dude, but he brought a country with him, De La Hoya is one of the greatest legends in boxing and Marquez was mexicos hope. Pacquiao and Cotto bring there fans too. So even though Mayweather done O.K Nobody really pays to see him box, but to see him lose.

Somewhere in all those excuses, perhaps you can explain why all those guys sold more with Mayweather than with anyone else.

Floyd did better numbers with oscar tha pac, floyd does better numbers with hatton than pac, now floyd does more with marquez than both of pac and marquez's fights combines after a 2 year retirement and dominates an opponent that pac lost to a least once. I give pac the first one, but marquez definately won the 2nd. So what do the floyd haters go to say now? Funny how Arum, Roach and Pac have been pretty quiet lately....quiet time!
