Now that I think about it, we really shouldn't be that surprised by the numbers. Sure, it was loads and loads of Mexicans who bought the fight, but who cares? Floyd did his same exact shtick that he always does, but this time it was on a fresh audience and it played to them perfectly as it always does. Floyd built up Marquez perfectly to the Mexican fans, a few guys at work actually thought Marquez was going to win with ease by a KO. Of course I thought it was insane and was nice and kept saying... IDK man, I think Mayweathers got this. Granted, I thought it was going to be a much closer fight but knew Floyd would win, when I went in on Monday they were surprised and actually gained a lot more respect for Floyd because of how he did it. Yea, they had a lot of excuses especially the size but they were still giving the man respect.
Essentially Floyd could have just brought in even more potential money as now Mexicans will pay for any Mayweather just to see him get his ass kicked as they may never have really... heard Floyd before a fight and now they want to see him lose just as bad as everyone else. Sure, some may have bought the Oscar fight, but Oscar is far more an American draw vs a Mexican draw. This was actually a great PR move for Floyd IMO and perhaps all of boxing.
