No he didn’t.
Khan didn’t fit the profile. Look at Floyd’s later opponents, except Berto which was a retirement fight, he always picked guys with a belt or coming off a major win, that was his big selling point his opponents
Ortiz was champ, had beaten an undefeated Berto just before.
Maidana beat Broner and was champ
Robert Guerrero put himself in a mandatory position, that’s a selling point for Floyd to use.
Cotto was champ
Canelo was WBC champ
Manny was Manny
Mosley had just beaten the piss out of Margarito
What did Khan do? He held no belts at welterweight, wouldn’t fight anyone to get in a mando position and never beat any top fighters at 147 to force the fight. He simply didn’t fit the profile for Floyd opponent at the time. They all followed a similar pattern. Khan was just hanging around , being inactive and desperate to be picked.
