Fury vs McDermott Rematch Ordered By The BBBC

Because of the controversy regarding the recent decision in the British heavyweight title fight between unbeaten prospect Tyson Fury and John McDermott, the British Boxing Board of Control has ordered a rematch. Even though it appeared that McDermott won the majority of the rounds, referee Terry O'Connor awarded Fury the decision with a score of 98-92. [details]

A deserved rematch on McDermotts behalf. Everybody knew he won, i hope he does a better job in ending the Tyson story.

That fight was nonsense. I was mad as hell too because I bet on McDermott on the grounds that Fury is a neverwas.

I think Fury will win (legitimately) this time around.

I heard his interview on Talksport he said he thought he won and that the if you watch the fight without the commentary that the fight was not as close as people thought, he promised to KO McMuffin this time.

Watt might have been going over the board with the commentary but lets not forget that Haye was at ringside and he also thought Fury was losing, so its a bit delusional to think that he won the fight and that Watt was giving McDermott too much credit.

He tried to play down the fact that McCdermott was busting his chops with the better punches and said he was landing more, he was prolly throwing more i dont know about landing.

To be honest I did think the fight was closer the 2nd time I watched it but why not have a rematch, was a good domestic scrap so why not do it again.

It's shameful that O'Connor yet again is allowed to continue working the biggest UK fights.

I realise that a great ref is hard to come by, but O'Connor has been a joke for several years now.

O Connor is a complete joke. This is the same ref who made the worst stoppage ever in the Calzaghe - Manfredo fight but he was willing to let Amir Khan continue in the Prescott fight after he had been floored & when Khan got back up he was completely out on his feet and O Connor basically just let Prescott hammer him again.
