No, I have seen Ortiz fight plenty and I have also seen him hurt and rocked before by lesser foes than Ennis too. Look, here's the deal. I am not saying that the kid can't fight because he can.
Moreover, I believe that him and Jaron Ennis are the futures of the welterweight division. However, I believe that he eats way too many clean punches to defeat Jaron 'Boots' Ennis that's all.
That's whats great about Boxing, we have opinions but don't know. It's always two sides. Ennis has never faced that type of power, Ortiz hasn't either so how do we know who'll hold up. Guessing who would win,, should be made once the fight is made, other wise its hypothetical at best. We don't know if they'd get by the anyone who of niote, seeing their comp so far..
Jaron "Boots" Ennis can't even get a fight inside the Showtime/PBC umbrella.
Let alone outside of that island.
What in thee fuq do you dudes on this site be talking about?? Boots isn't signed to Pbc and all his fights have been on Showtime. He only fought once this year because the Spence-Crawford debacle that screwed the entire 2022 WW schedule up. But don't worry I think he's coming back in January on Tank's undercarriage. There you go champ.
I agree with Garcia to a point. I do believe Ennis should be the favorite right now, he's a switch hitter with power that's tuff for anyone, add the fact that Ortiz had that issue with his body a few fights back. That said, Ortiz is most certainly a real live dog if fully healthy, I would say 55-45 in Boots favor, but that fight would come to chin, who takes shots better. At this point that's the major mystery about these 2, chin, because none of the other players want to fight these guys I just don't know what kind of chin these guys have. One thing I don't agree with, is why the sanctioning bodies don't have either of these guys as mandatories for either Spence or Crawford? Thurman a "mandatory" would get wiped out by either of these guys, and there's others out there who are highly ranked that are nowhere near as good as Boots or Ortiz. Spence and Crawford have held this division hostage for way to long, it's time for the organizations to make Spence and Crawford defend against these guys.
Love the post accept you guaranteeing they wipe the floor with Thurman. Yeah I'd pick both but neither has proven anything for that statement. Let them step up first. Can't miss prospects We all remember the greats who were can't miss but we forget the other 90% of guys who were touted as can't miss.
I'm sick of the Boots Ennis hype train if you ask me. Not to mention this sport in general. How can a guy with 30 fights in his record with no notable win and now became inactive gets so much hype? Can't he even fight Kavaliauskas, who is available and his last fight was on PBC? If "Boots" is that good why is he playing waiting game like the others? Is he afraid to lose or something?
You do know that Virgil and boots only fought once in 2022 and twice in 202q. You do know that right? RIGHT?
Ennis has an actual contract with showtime and golden boy has one with dazn. This fight won’t happen as long as DLH insists on dazn getting involved even if it doesn’t put up any money towards the fight/promotion
Only way this fight happens is Dazn let's Oscar out of the contract due to his failure to generate revenue. Oscar needs Pbc / Showtime and thats the bottom line. Mungia and Jermall need each other. Virgil needs Boots and all their other WWs. Ryan needs to fight Tank on Showtime Ppv. By 2023 Pbc will more than likely have 3 of the 4 belts at 140 so Ryan should be there after he fights Tank. Dazn / GBP aren't going survive NY fighting C level Euros. He has to go to Showtime to save in fledgling company. It's...... INEVITABLE (finger snap here)
Ennis needs to get out of that sht**ty deal he has with Showtime. Haven't he had enough of this long layoff he's going through? It's obvious Showtime can't deliver. So why not fight outside of this crumbling house and explore other fights out there?
Because when he looked out the window of that crumbling house he saw all the other crumbling houses on fire being burnt to the ground. Where the hell else would he go. TR doesn't have WWs. GBP only has Virgil. Hearn had one but he's suspended for steroids and won't be back for a year. So I think that house that's crumbling but won't fall down because it sits on a good foundation is the best spot for him.
I agree but that goes for Ortiz as well right. Let's be fair to both and not misleading( I haven't read all post so I apologize if you posted the same or similar about Ortiz)
McKinson and Hooker are picture perfect no threats for Ortiz and Kavaliuskas has a bit of power but can only **** which gave him 0 chance vs Ortiz.
Yeah, Ortiz Ko's Boots last three opponents maybe better than boots But I'm certain that Boots has better showing against Ortiz's last three opponents. Basically Boots does better against McKinson as he'd catch a mover being a mover himself. All of this really means nothing. They both need to step up and prove the hype.
It feels good when you can like two fighters in the same division.
(No problem, I edited it to be shorter and no I haven't mentioned Ortiz)
As so far Mean Machine already knocked out a top 10 contender in David Avanesyan and recently gave a difficult bout to Terrance Crawford until he recovered and adjusted, knocking him out in the ninth round. Ortiz faced the same adversity as he defeated him at age 23.
Lipinets is a lightwelterweight who received a twelve-round beating by a lightweight in Mickey Garcia, his most noticeable win is a faded Lamont Peterson. Garcia vs Lipinets outcome.jpg
As for the Hooker and Mckinson fights, they are just different styles to test Vergil at experimental standpoint so he can make improvements.
Ortiz Jr was careless with Mckinson because he knew he could walk through his punches as he had a low knockout ratio of 2 KOs out of 22 victories despite being quite durable and slippery. But he defeated no one of note.
Hooker although rejuvenating by moving up, was the WBO champion at light welterweight by defeating decent opponents.
The Hooker that fought Cobbs was not the same fighter as he came overweight unable to make 147 and was quite sluggish, but I am aware that based on the styles that were shown Ennis would be able to take him out relatively quickly even if he was at peak condition.
Custio Clayton was unproven and unwilling to fight, as for Dulorme was already past it, I would compare it to Mauricio Herrera fight were he was passed it at 38 years old but should had won against Jose Benavidez Jr and Danny Garcia. Dulorme record.jpg
I don't know the outcome and can't say I see a clearcut conclusion, I just think that Jaron Ennis needs to face better adversity. It goes to both fighters. But I just want to point out his performances against opposition he faced with context.
Anyone who handles Ortiz who wants to see that fight happen, just send Boots a solid offer and a contract. That's all you have to do. Boots will sign that quick
