Ironically, the only person I think could get close to a sort of Mayweather type star is somebody like Jake Paul, not a real boxer, but somebody who's able to tap into a sort of YouTube/Twitter audience and provide spectacles to people
You say Mayweather only got there because of de la hoya

So why didn't Mosley, tito, Hopkins become ppv stars after beating oscar?

No, because promoters have allowed ego to cloud their minds and inhibit them from doing their job, PROMOTING. Remember when HW champions would appear on hit shows like Fresh Prince?

Remember when Andy Ruiz appeared on Talk Shows after KOing AJ? Then is allowed to roam free on the streets of Oxnard and LA eating whatever Carnitas and Tacos are in sight before the rematch?

Fighters don't have the discipline because they are too busy scrolling on tiktok after training instead of mentally preparing themselves for a fight in isolation.

And promoters have been elevated to deities, thanks to low IQ fans who perfer promoter politics than fights!

Not anytime soon. I mean he fought DLH, Hatton, Canelo, Pacquaio and McGreggor.

He fought mexican legon JMM as a throwaway tune up fight.

Canelo-Jake Paul probably sells the most PPV. Or Mcgreggor - Jake Paul. It sounds ****** but its true.

AJ-Fury will sell really well. But it still isnt beating mayweather's numerous 2 and 4 million PPV fights.

          Not in this economy.

1.) People are getting slowly crushed by rising costs of rent, car, phone, internet, clothing, food, water, college loans, etc. The cost of living has simply increased faster than any increase in wages. People are more prudent with their money nowadays.

2.) PPV prices have gone up. Sure you got some low end PPVs but big fight PPVs are 75+ dollars, more than yesteryears.

3.) Illegal streams. It's just easier and easier every year to find anything online, from jailbroken USB sticks to online streams.

4.) Quality fights. Most PPVs are the main card and then showcase fights or C/B tier fighters fighting. PPV cards aren't stacked.

5.) Network/promoter cold war. Not only do we have fighters being stubborn and refusing to budge on negotiations but now you have promoters and networks tugging at both ends as well. Too many chefs in the kitchen.

6.) Fighters aren't making themselves known to the general public. Promoters aren't promoting to casuals, the most I see is maybe a single news article in the Yahoo news wheel of a big fight, and fighters might have a twitter and instagram presence and do lowkey interviews but put them on prime time TV, have them do an interview or something.

This is my PPV card without naming names. Have it a 4 fight main card, pick any 4 weight divisions and have the WBC champ in that division fight the highest ranked available contender regardless of affiliation. Promote it as the WBC Superbowl. With 4 WBC title fights on the line you know it's going to be a big deal.

Floyd had a unique opportunity with McGregor

a similar opportunity is unlikely to be available anytime soon for other boxers

No chance. Used to be it was hard to get a stream or they had **** quality or would lag. Now you can get an HD one with ease that doesn't lag. And there are many stream sites. Also firestick.

Never is longer than you think, or maybe the world blows up first, maybe in a 100 yrs PPVs are numbering 20million, they said the 10k live gate in the late 1800s would never be beaten, then again in 1910 the 18k gate would never be beaten, then in 1920 100k live gate would never be beaten, it was also broadcast over the radio to 50mil listeners.

                    Dont underestimate time and progress.
