Bored of this ****. I didn't believe the fight was getting made in the first place so paid no attention to the media negotiations but all this back and forth about a fight that's not happening isn't worth it. Forget the idea of these two fighting until it's official (which may never happen because regardless of what's said, neither have genuinely seemed keen on facing each other).

This is what I imagine the average PBC meeting to be like

      Stringer Bell is Al Haymon

You're aware Spence didn't have a guarantee either, right?

Ever heard of working on commission?

They were guaranteed a percentage of overall revenues. You act like there was a chance they'd get nothing. It's ridiculous.

Only pbc guys are ****** enough to do a ppv without a guarantee. Nobody else is working on commission.

Like I said. Haymon happily gave canelo 40 guaranteed. Before ppv. And plant 10 million guaranteed before ppv. And Pacquiao 20 million guaranteed before ppv. But errol and bud gotta wait?
Nah that's not how it works.

Even Broner got 4 million guaranteed before ppv to fight Pacquiao and that fight only did 400k buys. So cut it out. PPV fights come with guaranteed purses before a ppv is sold

No, you cut it out. Neither of these guys are Canelo or Pacquiao.

Pardon my ignorance if I'm wrong on this, but didn't Crawford ask for 100% transparency (in lieu of the guarantee) so he would know exactly what the overall revenue was?

The issue is one of trust. Crawford didn't trust PBC would be forthright with their revenue numbers after the fact. He wasn't going to accept whatever number they gave him.

I'm not blaming either Spence or Crawford for this not happening. Spence has worked with PBC and seems comfortable with his arrangement with the promotional company. Crawford has not worked with them previously and I wouldn't expect him to accept their numbers at face value.

Bud said he didn't ask Arum for transparency because he always got a guarantee, not to mention he was always over paid.

He talks about informing the other side about the hedge fund but they had no interest, not interest in where it was coming from.

He was going to get transparency” throughout, a source told Insider, adding that Crawford made an “unusual” request to also oversee the marketing expenditure for the show.

A boxer usually does not get involved on this side, as their focus is to train and to fight, rather than to sign off on, say, $200,000 worth of expenses that could include things like press tours, free airline tickets for fighter teams, and so on.

According to a source with knowledge of the negotiation, PBC nevertheless agreed and sent Crawford an updated contract after granting his final requests.

                  However, Crawford never responded.

Instead, he announced an alternative deal with a niche platform called BLK Prime, and said he would be fighting David Avenesyan in December.

So you don't understand how splits, or business in general works. Gotcha.

You answered the point, its not near as risky to guarantee say 3mill like it is to guarantee 20 ml on fighters that are not household names, TC and Spence are in that limbo to stardom stage they both needed this fight to propel the winner into that Canelo like status, when the top guys throw down that backend split percentage can be way bigger than a promoter guarantee which will low ball because its guaranteed.
I think Bud fckd up here on the finance side of things.
