Comments Thread For: Prograis: I Think Crawford Can Go To 154, I Don't Think He Can Beat Jermell Charlo

Jermell is a legit true champ at 154. He is no hype job, he is a great boxer.
Crawford would be just too small.

One of my favorite quotes of the year was from a Boxingscene article about Crawford:
"I'm f------ up [Jermell] Charlo," he said. "Put that in there. After I beat Spence, I'm moving up and I'm f------ up Charlo. End quote."

I don't think Jermell is all that. He's undisputed, but what does it really mean, in this case? Since 2015, he's fought Vanes Martirosyan, Joachim Alcine, John Jackson, Charles Hatley, Erickson Lubin, Austin Trout, Tony Harrison 2x's, Jorge Cota, Jeison Rosario, & and Brian Castano.2x's. The best fighter on this list by far is Tony Harrison, who handed Charlo his only loss. Castano probably won their 1st fight. At a minimum, It's definitely debatable. So who is Charlo really undisputed over, when he hasn't really fought anybody? Furthermore, he keeps Joan Guzman on board, as if he's learning Guzman's defensive ability, when he's really not. He's nothing close to Guzman in skill or style, so that's a waste of time. He'd be better off with just Derek James. Castano hit him plenty in both fights, and Charlo weathered the storm but it shows he's very hittable. I believe Crawford could beat all the opponents i mentioned above including Tony Harrison. No disrespect to Harrison, he's good, but he's not his grandfather. Its not like he's Henry Hank. So i feel Bud can beat Charlo's ass with no real problem, because he's a much better technician and he hits just as hard but is way smarter and sharper than Charlo. Thats just my humble opinion

When have you seen Charlo on shaky legs like Bud against Kavaliauskas, or really rocked like Crawford against the much smaller Gamboa? Bud doesn't have great defensive skills, but he tries to respond better than his opponents offense. He gets hit often, but normally puts himself in position for a hard response. If he gets hit by Jermell and tries to respond, he's going to sleep.
