  • Loma's got to stop giving away the first 4-5 rounds. He was nearly outworked tonite. He had to close strong or he would have lost. Hard to say how he will do against Haney.

Loma has been a manufactured hype job from day one.
Perhaps you’re right on both points, but neither changes the fact that I enjoy watching him more than any other boxer, and point 2 is perfectly compatible with this sentiment.

      • I'm not surprised that this was a tough one. Lomanchenko has been inactive for almost a year and it showed. The ring rust was there and he had a younger, game opponent who did his best but ultimately was broken down by the more experienced Fighter.
I always maintained that a Fighter in heading into his mid 30s in the lower class divisions NEEDS to stay active because they depend on their reflexes more so than the higher weight classes. Lomanchenko is not overrated by a Longshot as his detractors are trying their best to maintain that false narrative. He has accomplished quite a bit in all of 17 fights. Won world titles in 3 weight classes and unified the lightweight titles WBA,WBC,WBO AND RING magazine title from 2018 to 2020. And he did this against good opponents. The criticism and hate lobbed at him by his detractors are just not based in facts but rather personal biases and yes unfortunately r@ce is a part of that ingredient. It comes mostly from 2 groups. I don't have to spell it out. However in his next fight I expect him to be more efficient and less rusty. He can't afford to be only partly ready for Devin Haney. He needs to be sharper and better condition for a show down With Haney for certain.

        • Good news for Loma is Haney can't punch through a wet paper bag.

          • Loma is too small, everyone is bigger than him at 135

Yeah people hate because he gets that white privilege as the White boxer with the boxing style and skills that Black boxers get criticized for, but he is top level. You don't have to like him, but acknowledge the skills. He gave up height and reach to a young athletic guy, yet he was still the sharper, crisper puncher, and clearly the more skilled guy.
Lots of fighters give up reach and height consistently yet don't get to use that excuse. He has lost to a journeyman , a green Lopez and needed a robbery decision to beat a top 20 sparring partner, while being called an ATG top P4P. That is a hype job.

Stop playing the race card, He gets hate because he was served up title shots he never deserved, and is just a media manufactured hype job. Given a title shot in his 2nd fight, loses it then given a shot again next fight. What a joke.

The 3 weight division crap is just smoke and mirrors to fool the morons. Thats easy to do these days with so many belts, weak champions and small gaps in the divisions. I count what happens in the ring, not just paper.

              • I have a feeling we won't see loma haney next. Arum hinted at it before the fight, i am guessing they knew he wasn't going to look great.

                • I think Loma is showing hints of his age. I love watching him and he has all timer talent. He went pro at a late age and his skills are largely based around incredible reflexes....and no one beats father time.

That said, I'd pick him heavily against Haney. Haney is a very solid boxer, smart. But he hasn't seen anyone like Loma and he doesn't have the power to keep Loma's hands at home.

I see Loma beating Haney by UD, then defending maybe once or twice and retiring. He is still a great fighter, but a few years ago he was absolutely unreal. He is moving out of his prime.

The question is if he will be active enough against haney. Haney can win rounds just throwing that jab. Loma needs to work all 12 rounds and it just doesn't seem like he wants to or is capable of doing that.

                    • Good, competitive fight. I'd like to see Loma vs Haney. I think Loma wins that one.
