Other than a freak injury or something to bivol, its nearly impossible for canelo to win a rematch, Bivol would have to drastically decline and hes younger than canelo.

Its as a good a guess as anyone, I think his prime like every other AAA grade guy is the majority of their career, the elites come in at better than 90% of their ability just about every fight that's what they are ATGs , they just operate in that zone all the time, they mature and gain a higher level of conditioning, but the ability they have is just there. Most people will apply prime to some outstanding fights, but its not different to a racehorse the great ones are always great until they fall off and it's generally a crash not just a taper.

They are not levels apart in terms of skill, they are level with Alvarez being better in some area's.

It was the physical attributes such as speed, and endurance which ultimately won Bivol the fight.

There is nothing outrages about this observation.

Alvarez thinks he was not in his best of condition, so? Theoretically if he can improve in the area's of endurance, maybe this changes the dynamic of the fight.

Tactically, Alvarez probably fights the same kind of fight. He just have to up the intensity.

Bivol is the favorite for the rematch.

I like that explanation a lot, I suppose prime is seen as quite black and white across the board and usually applying to certain ages in athletes. But like you say if that residual higher ability and conditioning is there to fall back on the physical prime (age) shouldn't matter so much hence mayweathers performance at 36 against canelo being more refined than some of his fights during the 22 - 30 year old range most consider prime. Thanks for taking the time to respond with that knowledge in your reply.

Thinking of your response and thinking of mayweathers late career ability I would hazard a guess that the ability to think during a fight and adapt and use high level boxing iq is probably more influential in winning than using physical attributes in there.. just food for thought
