Comments Thread For: Benavidez Fires Back At Canelo: "Who F------ Cares If I Fought One World Champion, Come Beat Me"

Although Canelo Alvarez has forged a career that will safely place him in the Hall of Fame when he ultimately hangs up his gloves, a shroud of mystery constantly surrounded him.

By that rationale, I also demand a fight with Canelo.

Benavides only has himself to blame. He had the title twice and lost it once because of recreational drugs and another time coming in overweight. He was viewed as unreliable and now he has a bit of momentum.

He could had his shot having the belt so he should be mad at himself. His resume is crap but if Canelo stays at 168 that fight makes sense at the moment.

Exactly, if he would have kept his WBC title, Canelo would have already taken it from him last year.

Do any bum off the street can go fight the most popular fighter in boxing and make millions just because he wants to? By no means is Benavidez a bum, but he has to put himself in position to fight the best if he's really serious. You can't just wait around doing nothing, continue building your resume and popularity in the meanwhile it can only help your career. If Canelo fights someone without credentials and beats him, he doesn't make the money he wants and he doesn't get the credit either, that's how it works.

Alvarez HAS to eventually defend his titles against the top contender...or vacate...or get stripped...or retire.

Who's more worthy of the title shot? Alvarez can't just hold on to the straps forever and say "no one is worthy...I can't be beaten...no need to defend."

If Benavidez is such a bum, Alvarez should go pick up that "easy work". But I bet he vacates.

“What I have to do is keep winning and the fight is eventually going to happen. I’m going to be extremely ready for when that happens.” - David Benavidez

It's not that simple! They could always make him "Franchise" Champion again!
