Agreed. For whatever reason Alvarez is making excuses. He thinks when he fights people that he is giving them a chance to make lots of money. This is true. Young up and coming guys want the challenge and want to take on the pound for pound best guy out there. No matter what sport we are in, the up coming contenders always want the person at the top. Canelo's ego is too fragile to take another loss to Benavidez. Canelo has a lot of yes men around him on his payroll pumping his head with lies about how he is the best fighter in the game right now. He gets paid well for every fight he takes and he will not take the Benavidez fight also because if he loses then Canelo's earning power will decrease. Canelo likes to fight guys who he can beat, plain and simple. If he thought he wouldn't have been able to beat Bivol, then he wouldn't have fought him either.

Imagine how different things would have been if Benavidez didn't lose his titles at 168 TWICE! Having said that, come on Canelo, he's obviously the best contender at 168 and the fans want to see it.

1. Having a belt or being a mandatory wasn’t Canelo’s reasoning now was it? It was champions defeated and that argument falls flat and is hypocritical.
2. Benavidez was a champion at 168 and canelo never expressed any interest in fighting him. He did however petition for his belt just 3 days after he was stripped. Coincidence? Sure. There is no guarantee that if he kept his belt that Canelo would’ve fought him because he didn’t express interest in the belt until benavidez didn’t have it. 3. It’s funny how you mention Yidilgrim was a mandatory. The first mandatory canelo ever faced in his career because before he gave up his title instead of facing mandatories on 3 different occasions.
Like I said, he’s a hypocrite and clearly doesn’t want to fight Benavidez.

Yeah they can make him franchise champion, BUT he will lose face with all of the boxing fan's who do want to see this particular fight happen.

Not surprisingly I don't believe the excuse of his hand being injured in the GGG trilogy fight. Does an injured hand also effect stamina? Exactly... Just be a man and own up to your own shortcomings instead of blaming everything and everybody else.

Boxing of today is too run by “stars” who want to maximise profit with the path of least resistance. The most money with the least risk. No sport can function forever like that. Boxing when I was young and not so young was about the old lions beating back to the new lions. You didn’t have to be already a champion with wins over 10 other champions to get a shot at the man, you just had to be the beat looking contender at that point in time. Champions took on contenders and that’s how new champions were crowned. Canelo is the antithesis of that. And what’s worse is people make excuses for him being this way, they do this because of race and or national origin.

“Bumavitez’s resume is sh#t.”
”Bumavitez lost his titles to being a fat ass and drugs.”
”Bumavitez doesn’t deserve a shot at Canelo.”

You guys are missing the point. The point being that Canelo is actively avoiding Benavitez like the fu#king plague because he’s afraid of Benavitez. Benavitez is the most dangerous matchup for Canelo at the moment and Canelo knows this, so he’s avoiding it.

Canelo has nightmares about Benavitez. He fu#king checks under his bed for Benavitez.
