Eddie is full of it, but he's right about this one. Spence vs Crawford is an excellent match up, probably one of the best matches out there. But that's what this fight is, an excellent match up, not a big fight. And don't get me wrong, I think it does decent business, but it's not the magnitude that Crawford fans think, or what Crawford and Spence think, this fight does a solid 400-500k in PPV and a decent gate along with all the other revenue streams.

That still isn't a reason not to make the fight in my opinion. Every fight doesn't need to be 1.3m buys or 1.7m buys. These guys aren't Mayweather, Pacman, Canelo, DLH, Tyson, etc. Sometimes you make the fight that needs to be made. If it does well and warrants a rematch, the rematch can be bigger.

So with that mindset, they'll risk each fighter losing or getting injured by not making the fight, having them fight others and Boxing fans lose. It's like Boxing is that one sport where the actual Boxing fans are less important than the general public.

its a pity that the general worlds opinion of crawford spence doesnt match one or both of their opinions of themselves, if the general world opinion of them was higher we surely would (maybe) have a fight, is it the general worlds fault then that the fight isnt getting made maybe?

This fight FLOPS, 350K Buys if they're lucky and somebody will lose a TON of Money on it

Boxing needs MORE than just making the big fights they need to find a better way of getting fighters out and about to promote themselves to a new audience OUTSIDE of Boxing

It’s on Bud that he signed with Arum and then re signed with him again. He knew what the welterweight stable was at Top Rank and he knew and saw that Arum has a hard time making deals with other promoters to make big fights.
This isn’t Floyd/Pacquiao, that fight was huge and still took years past its prime date to make.
Bud wasted his prime earning years hiding behind Arum and that’s on him. Now he’s older and a clear B side who doesn’t want to accept that. He got paid but would have made more fighting and beating Spence. Now he’s wasted another 12 months and probably won’t fight again until well into 2023.
Bud’s on pace to be easily forgotten when he’s done.

Crawford hasn't had the opportunities Spence has for ppv success. Who can Spence fight that will generate the ppv $$ Crawford will? Make the fights that capture the attention of the public and we will buy. Keep serving up mismatches and we will stream. It's as simple as that. BTW, ES isn't exactly a ppv draw either. TC & ES need each other to transcend to the next level.

Al Haymon needs to take more risk, a fight on the level of Crawford vs Spence is a marketing dream with historical significance. Give Paramount/CBS a fight worth investing in, like you said one that will elevate both fighters.

The problem is that BOTH fighters are asking for guarantees that would probably necessitate a million buys to cover it, and no promoter is going to make that guarantee.

Not sure where Crawford gets the hate but he is actually more personable and more personality than Spence. Spence comes off as more country pumpkin than Wilder. I won't get into him dancing in clubs with his manz.

I agree with Eddie Hearn.
Aside from actual boxing Fans the fight is not really as big a deal as we'd like it to be.
