Wilder looks like he can take the best shots going now. In order for AJ to finish him, he’s gonna have to somehow not get touched, but he always does, and though Wilder is still very predictable, seems to have learned how to KO with little leverage.

AJ’s combo to down Ruiz was vintage. But ofc, what wasn’t is all the technical flaws on display when trying to bomb him out of there AND that he lacks the IQ to know when to stick or twist. Ruiz wasn’t terribly hurt. Contrast with the performance against Pulev when he could have ended him before round 4, but was never sure when to turn the screw.
Well written post. Agree with all of it.

The thing with Wilder is being only 214lbs ( in his last fight ) that means the physics on his power relies a lot on the speed of his punch. The guy must have hollow bird bones. So being long and fast that can surprise and get to a lot of people. He’s also willing to throw from the opening bell. He takes his shots early and often. It works for him. Getting pushed back, bouncing off the ropes, landing a shorter style punch KO in close quarters is so much more than a lot of people thought they could get from Wilder. His power is on another level.

Right on. Didn’t know this MF had it in him.

You right on the speed. Lot of ppl are surprised when slim guys come in and hit hard. But Jesus… 214lbs of weight thrown into someone’s face at 80mph, or whatever?! That’s gonna hurt.
