Fury is almost universally considered the guy.

He's got the two best victories of the last decade against Klitschko & Wilder.

    He's undefeated.

Yes, he's lazy as hell and looks for excuses to get out of fights he would probably win.

    But, he's the guy.

He's on P4P lists the world over.

Usyk is higher than him P4P, but not as a heavyweight, so he's the new 2nd guy now that Wilder & Joshua are damaged goods.

Tyson Fury is number 1, but? It is not 1000% clear number 1.

Fury's reign is not as dominant as Wladimir Kiltschko's or the Kiltschko's reign in general.

There was clear distance between the Kiltschko's and everyone else.

You can no longer claim that for Fury, because he does not take on all comers. And his third fight vs Wilder was anything but easy, he was bashed about real good.

No disrespect to Whyte, but he was burnt out by the time he got to Fury. I think there are plenty of Heavyweights who would beat Whyte.

Joshua, Joyce, Dubois, Usyk. Whyte would be the underdog vs all of these fighters. Fury defense vs Whyte does not prove that there is distance between him and everyone else.

So Tyson Fury for me is ranked at number 1, but he is not in a very dominant position. How can he be? When for his next fight he is dropping back down to Domestic or High End European level etc.

Usyk has won on the road like 10+ times, became undisputed Cruiserweight champion, moved up to Heavyweight and completely outclassed Joshua twice.

To suggest either of those guys aren’t “legit champs” is absolutely ridiculous.
He never said not legit about either of them. He said no main figure. I honestly think hes right

Rankings are clear... but in terms of an individual who is the champion, I'd dispute that there is one.

This is why I hoped for more from Joshua. If he could have avoided the losses then he'd take on the challenges that we know Fury won't. Both have shown that through their careers.

But we're stuck with Fury. Ranked 1, but a pretty terrible champion.

I can't speak for the original poster JakeTheBoxer but I didn't interpret the comment saying they weren't legit champions just that there isn't a "main guy" and I would agree with that. It's a bit fractured.

Fury and Usyk are legit champions but Fury is saying half the time that he's retired and the other half of the time that he's fighting someone that he's not. Usyk recently emerged on the heavyweight scene as far as relevancy.

Unless we get a unification, we may not get any closer to one guy being the obvious HW king as far as the public and the industry.

He literally said, “nobody is a legit big champ”. It’s in the OP.

As I said both are undoubtedly legit and Fury is clearly the number 1 guy/main figure at HW for me.

Fury is still the clear #1, I don’t think there’s much doubt about that.

Usyk is probably my favourite active fighter alongside Chocolatito but he’s Forum at best. It’s Fury’s era.

Its frustrating they just wont fight and Fury is ****** for not pushing and getting the AJ fight while AJ was undefeated.

Usyk will be 36 soon, his style relies on high workrate and speed and he gives up 20+ pounds each fight. I dont know how much longer he can stay undefeated. Fury would wreck him but Fury for whatever reason wants to go fight ***ing chisora a third time now, nobody asked for that fight.
