You left out the next part of the quote:

“People are talking about me coming down to 155, that’s just not going to happen.

"I’ve never fought at that weight before and I don’t have that much weight to take off.

“He would comfortably make 160. Could I shave off a couple of pounds if I had to? Yes, but one or two maximum.

“155 is not happening, 158 at a push. If that can’t be agreed on then we’ve got much bigger fish to fry and it’s not the end of the world.”

I kind of agree with him, but I don't think it will be this fight that it makes a difference in.

I think it could be an issue when he goes back up in weight like when Roy Jones Jr. was weakened by the large weight gain

But it seems apparent now that Jr. isn't trying to have a real fighting career like his dad, he just wants a few payday event fights (against GGG, Canelo, Benn, Brook) and he'll probably retire if he gets a few of those.

Everyone needs to call his bluff and absolutely boycott this fight because a message needs to be sent to rich boy Eddie "money pit" Hearns and Anthony Juice-ua for their disgraceful shenanigans in the Fury negotiations that they never had any intentions at all of going through with the fight. The only way to stop this nonsense and bring some integrity back to the sport is to make Eddie's daddy cut him off and stop letting him use Daddy's money to satisfy his own massive ego. When this fight flops and Juice-ua becomes an even bigger laughing stock, Daddy Hearn will revoke Eddie's black card and we can get back to focusing on the real problems in Boxing, Uncle Al, TMT, WBA, and WBC.
Eubank actually attempted to murder "Michael Johnson"?

What does Michael Watson think about this?

Eubank is not fighting Brook. He's fighting Benn.

SR has a point though. Draining yourself can cause serious problems when being hit in the head.

I'm well aware he's fighting Benn but that's beside the point, he not only mentioned he barely rehydrates he also said he'd make 158 easily in the very same interview, now all of sudden (just months later) it's an issue and his health's at risk... it's a farce to try and sell a pitiful fight.

Anyone who thinks this is promotion for the fight obviously never followed Eubank Sr's career back in the 90s. He's a very genuine person, and never sacrificed his ideals for self-promotion, he was actually reviled for a time for being so. True, Benn is a big boy, but parents will understand when I say we NEVER stop trying to protect our kids from harm.

I followed his career and post-career. He absolutely would do this for promotion and has previously done worse. Remember after the Blackwell fight? Eubanks were begged not to hold a press conference a few days later, but they did it anyway. The attitude was 'Somebody is in a coma? Let's exploit it for self promotion'

“I haven’t any hard feelings about the fight because you’re in there to win and try and hurt someone — it’s just the stuff he has done after. It’s inhuman, it’s disgusting,” he told The Sun. “They were trying to make themselves look like the good guys when they are the opposite.”

Blackwell added: “My family and friends were begging them not to talk, but they ignored it. I’ve only just been shown the press conference and I know exactly what happened. It isn’t human what they’ve done. They were grabbing as much attention as they could. I was still in a coma but they went ahead and did it. That’s the Eubanks, isn’t it? They just want attention, no matter if it’s a bad or a good thing.”

If Chris Jr. was in a coma and I wanted to do a press conference on the Tuesday and their family was begging me not to do it, I would not do it. My promoter was begging Chris Sr. The Boxing Board of Control rang him and begged him not to do it.

“I’m just a little bit disappointed,” he added when asked about after the Eubanks’ behaviour. “I’d always see it if I was in that situation, I’d want to go and see him. My family begged them not to do it and they went to do it.”
