If Mosley is so much better than Cotto, then why did he LOSE to him?

Who has Floyd beat AT WW, to make him the best there? Hatton and Marquez?

Damn, you're ******. I'll agree with you and say Cotto IS 2nd tier, which is crap, but I'll agree. He still beat Mosley you asshat, so what does that make Mosley?

based on the numbers of contenders beaten in the welter division I would say cotto

        Then shane and then floyd

this is not a p4p ranking but a ranking of the best welterweight and i just happened to base that on the body of work done in the welterweight division.

"Best" is kind of a subjective word there.

If we're taking skills, then I'd say Floyd.

If we're talking actual fights as a WW, then it's a different story. On one hand Mosley beat the man who beat the man, but then again Cotto became the man because Floyd retired. Or we could say that Cotto-Marg created the man, and then Mosley beat the man. Either way that leaves Mosley as the man.

If we argue that Floyd left WW to fight Oscar so he's discounted, then we have to argue that Shane left WW as well - he fought at 154 for a while. So neither gets as much credibility as a WW, at least over the past 3 years.

Only Cotto has joined WW and stayed there consistently, so one could argue that he's the best at actually "being" a WW rather than weight jumping.

            Ahh technicalities.

Cotto is the best welterweight in the world. Mosley might be the "lineal" champion at welterweight at the moment, but Cotto beat him. He also beat Judah, QUintana, Urkal, Gomez, Clottey and Jennings. He only lost to Margarito at welterweight. Cotto's fought the best welters out there and only lost to one. Floyd shouldn't even be in this poll because he hasn't fought a real welter in years. Hatton at 147? Child please. Get the **** out of here with that ****.

It's Cotto as the poll has clearly indicated.

Cotto and Mosley are pretty close. But i think cotto is still on top. Mayweather is not yet near the top since he only defeat a LW fighter in his return.

Cotto/Mosley then PBF. It's not good to rank PBF at the moment. Marquez is not a WW prior to that bout. And far off from being a top 10 WW. When PBF left, he is the number 1 WW. Now, just no. Based on activity alone, Clottey,IMO, is above him. But if you are talking about "best skills", then Pbf takes it far and above them.
