Parker looks like a sparring partner

Parker looks like a sparring partner. After feeling out Parker for a few rounds Joyce knew the fight was his. He could tell Parker doesn't have that dog in him. Parker is what he is, a sparring partner. Has poor defense with his hands low. Parker has gone down hill the last few years and should think retirement. Saturday night he was a stepping stone for Joyce.

    Retirement? FFS he's 30!

What is it with people calling for every beaten fighter to retire? If you had it your way we'd have Fury, Usyk and Joyce... then a massive gap to unbeaten prospects. You've retired everyone else

He looked a shell of his former self and the guy who fought AJ. Soft, pudgy no cardio. Terrible. Not sure what happened he's not even old.

Yea, a sparking partner. He may have taken too many punches. 24 rounds with Chisora, 12 with Joshua, Ruiz and Whyte each fight. He is a young fighter in an old fighters body. Those are too many rounds to be in with heavy punchers. Joyce may have beaten the shell of his old self.

Indeed. Boxing fans put way too much stock in a loss
          these days.

Marvin Hagler would’ve retired before he become champ when he lost to 2 fringe contenders on the way up. If that happened today, he would be thrown on the scrap heap and be called a hype job and that he got exposed.

Although I do think there’s a decent case for Parker being on the slide for a few years.

He was in many wars and nearly always 12 rounds. he is not old, but he might be past his peak already.

Parker has heart, the problem is he was in there with a beast and he was no match for him.

Not sure if that is quite fair on Parker as he came out and matched Joyce intensity in the first 4 rounds, and kept trying after that.

Joyce just set a ridiculous pace, even by a welterweight standard that was a seriously high pace so very few heavies are going to live with that

joe can do that to anyone.... dubois was talked about as the best prospect in boxing and joe did exactly the same thing to him.... parker did well to last until the 11th!

Your thread about Parker being badly prepared for the fight, I thought was right on the money. This thread misses the mark and largely ignores the point you made previously.

Parker was not prepared properly to hit and move for 12.
