Hopkins' **** of Pavlik was worse than the one in American History X.

Agreed.I don't think there's any reason to hate Pavlik unless you were put off by some of the excuses he and his camp made after the Hopkins fight. He usually puts up an honest effort except perhaps against Hopkins when he was dealing with decades of ring experience and was just never able to adapt to Hopkins's superior ring craft.
Pavlik vs Paul Williams will likely be an exciting fight which may redeem him or break him.
I was a big Kelly fan going into the Bernard fight, but wa turned off to him completely with his antics afterwards.
Everything from saying he wasn't going to make excuses, then turning around and blaming it on the flu and an inflamed muscle sack in his elbow, to the weight.
Then he never went after Abraham and that was the only fight any of us wanted to see at 160.
Then he talked down about all the guys competing in the "Super Six" saying they were basically all idiots because they were going to kill themselves "for peanuts".
I'm warming to him again but it'll take one hell of a performance against Williams to get me to become a fan again.Comment

I never said you have to be black to dislike him. And you must be a lousy expert if you think Pavlik beats Hopkins at 160.
It's obvious you find a fighter that you like and instantly say he's the best. The same you did with Terry Norris. Believe me, Norris was a great fighter but you ranked him as the 4th greatest fighter of all-time.
In this forum, that's called "nuthuggery".Comment

What kind of fan are you when you can get turned off so easily?!?Agreed.

EVERYBODY makes excuses when they lose. Only 1% don't. And why should Pavlik be vilified for not belonging to that 1%??

One thing that really annoys me about him is the fact that he's so basic in his punch output when he's boxing normally in the ring, but is a complete beast when he has his man hurt and knows how to mix his punches so well to take his man out.
I don't understand why he doesn't mix his punches up like tha tmore often during the course of a fight, rather than just waiting until he has his man hurt.Comment

Let's not forget how he badmouthed the Super Six...I don't think there's any reason to hate Pavlik unless you were put off by some of the excuses he and his camp made after the Hopkins fight. I was more impressed with his punch output when he was an up and coming fighter, for example in this video which I posted earlier in another Pavlik thread:One thing that really annoys me about him is the fact that he's so basic in his punch output when he's boxing normally in the ring, but is a complete beast when he has his man hurt and knows how to mix his punches so well to take his man out.

Of course he was more unpolished then but today he seems to have forgotten about everything except the solid jab and right hand behind it, aside from maybe the Lockett fight. I guess that in a way explains it, he just can't mix the punches up against better class fighters. It takes a man standing right in front of him for him to be able to do it.Comment
