Who started this A-side, B-side thing?

Look at these ladies contending their A-side claims:

Gives me a good chuckle and a wide grin on my face.

I've seen it in others like Joyce and Parker in their press con.
    It's very amusing.

It’s likely been around since the beginning of boxing, you’re always gonna have certain guys who are draws and guys who aren’t and the stars will naturally leverage that when it comes to negotiations.

Ray Leonard definitely made things worse IMO. He “marinated” several fights and popularised catch weights amongst other things.

Then you’ve got modern stars like Floyd, Canelo etc who’ve made it even more ridiculous with all of these bullsh** A-Side stipulations.

It’s definitely got gradually worse to the point that Z-list fighters are calling themselves A-Side in fights that don’t even matter. Case and point is Rankin vs Harper. I mean who the f*** cares? The fight’s already signed so why does it matter?

The interviewer brought it up, not the ladies.

Joe Parker, otoh, blurted out, "You wanna make me a B fighter, eh Frank?"
when they're dis*****g their contentious negotiations in the presscon.

I think Floyd was a prominent figure talking about A sides and even grading fighters too. Stuff fans never truly cared about until they had to use it to defend their crushes.

Seems clear DAZN is very much alive and kicking ass.

It’s always been there but the first time I heard it used was the potential Floyd/De La Hoya rematch that never happened.
Floyd got paid much less than Oscar for the first fight and wanted more for the rematch. Oscar said publicly he’s still the bigger draw and that Floyd was still the B Side. Floyd then started using that term a lot after.
They still agreed to the fight but then Floyd pulled out and “retired” after Oscar announced Floyd Sr. would train him.

Leonard started it but Floyd made it a part of the current boxing lexicon.

That really pissed off the fans of the guys he was fighting and his haters.

4 of Floyd’s biggest non Conor fights- ODH, cotto, Manny and Shane all happened because of the opponent waiting.

Well not cotto that was Bob.

The 5th- Canelo- you guys claimed he fought too early.

But hey Manny got more than $40 mil no ppv for turning the fight down so all his fans should be happy,

oops his cowardice got rewarded with the ko of the decade and $28 mil with the bulk of the ppv.
