I’ve followed Golovkin for a number of years. Ditching Sanchez was the most disappointing and self destructive move he ever made. Nothing against Banks… but once Sanchez was out of the picture, Golovkin tried to become a slickster. That’s simply not his forté, and never was going to be.

What a bitter old man Abel Sanchez has become? He needs to get over it! The "Drama Show" has fired him. His skills have deteriorated. He is a 40 year old diminished fighter now and there is no amount of coaching Sanchez can do that can help Salvage his career.Comment

Your're right. When he was with Sanchez he lost his belts and the two most important fights of his career while he was young and had a hand in the dismantling of HBO boxing. With Banks he signed a 100 million dollar co promotional deal with Dazn, won the Wba and Ibf belts and is on the verge of singing another lucrative contract probably with the PBC with his belts and mental faculties intact without ever being dropped, cut or hurt in a fight at 40 years old. So you're absolutely right. He has never been the same since changing trainers. Oh yeah, heyAbel, MEXICAN TRAINERS DON'T SELL! hahahahahahahaComment

Agreed, most top boxing trainers enhance a fighter's strengths rather than try to change them the way that Banks has. GGG is a mauler and a killer in the ring who is used to bull dozing his opponents by imposing his will on them. GGG got that way by round 8 of the fight. He should have been that way from round 1 on.I’ve followed Golovkin for a number of years. Ditching Sanchez was the most disappointing and self destructive move he ever made. Sanchez loves GGG because he spent 9 years training him as a fighter in the ring. He spent more time with GGG than he did his own family. So naturally he wants to see GGG succeed and remember what he taught him as a fighter in the ring. He knows that GGG could have done better. I am sure that he was angry when GGG left but he doesn't hate GGG. I have seen several interviews with Abel Sanchez. He speaks highly of GGG and still cares for him immensely. Sanchez is articulate, smart and a very insightful individual based off what I have seen of him.Comment

The boxing media is here to sell the fight. Disregard the hype and G was a big underdog for a reason. He's 40, hasn't looked good for a while and fighting a prime Alvarez at 168. Sure Sanchez's criticism is valid but Golovkin didn't let his hands go for 8 rounds probably because he knew he'd get countered.Comment

He doesn't come across as bitter at all in the interviews. Abel Sanchez always speaks with the highest esteem and regard for GGG. He speaks straight facts and offers insights about GGG than nobody else could. Can't understand why Abel Sanchez has so many detractors.Comment

What a simpleton. You think Johnathan Banks negotiated GGG's deal with DAZN? Not sure that you understand how any of these boxing roles work. Everything you wrote is pure nonsense.

Exactly, came to write the same thing. Based on the title, I expected a different article. The fact is that Abel Sanchez always speaks honestly but very respectfully of GGG who he clearly cares a ton about.Comment

It's nonsense to you but it's still true you fu.......agh I forgot I can't call you any names because you or one of your weak ass buddies on here will flag me and try to get me banned. I swear this is a boxing website and you people call the internet cops when someone calls you something you don't like. I can just imagine how you guys are in real life. smhComment

What I’ve noticed is that GGG tends to revert to the old pressure fighter once he’s in a serious contest and gets hit hard a few times. Then he tends to get that old look (eyebrows down, wider stance, leaning in), and suddenly he’s ready to break bones. Golovkin always had that in him, but Sanchez’s coaching really put some nitro in his breather for that. Who knows what might have been the outcome if we had seen that old version of Golovkin starting in round one? Maybe Canelo would have worn him out anyway, but I tend to think GGG at 40 has a bigger gas tank than Canelo ever had at any age. Sadly, we’re not going to see that. Both guys earned a good paycheck. May the good Lord give them the good sense to use it wisely.
