Hate him or love him, Alvarez is the legit 168 lb champ and a world class fighter. I don't believe he fears Benavidez...I DO believe his handlers and advisors fear him. If Benavidez or Ramirez were to beat him (or beat him up), that slices up Alvarez' primary fan base, affects future finances AND his claim to be the dominant Mexican fighter of this era. Benavidez is a huge money fight and the #1 168 lb challenger - if he's such an easy fight, not sure why Alvarez won't take it. Respect to Charlo, but he has no supermiddleweight fights and wants none of DB. Plant wants no parts of Benavidez either and humiliated himself begging for Alvarez' love in the middle of a fight. Alvarez' fans are trying to desperately explain away Benavidez as undeserving but ok...if that's so, I ask them two questions: 1) Just who would they like to see Alvarez fight next then? and 2) How long does ANY champion get to avoid fighting the #1 challenger without being stripped or forced to vacate?

Many, pretty great boxers….this isn’t anything new. When two elite athletes fight, neither have been knocked down in their careers this happens.

Those are easy questions. First, I was hoping GGG would beat Canelo, of course I did not get on it.

What exactly was Benavidez doing when Canelo was unifying the division?
Canelo has asked this question - why can’t those top guys in the same division fight each other? Why wait for the lottery money?
Benavidez and Charlo could have fought by now. No one is attacking them.
The #1 challenger was not a belt holder - Canelo fought 4 belt holders. Where was Benavidez all that time?

Then Benavidez should get Yildrim type money. Canelo should lowball the f.uck outta him.

And what exactly makes Benavidez a threat? Nobody has seen him get tested. All he's been fighting are bums. As far as anyone is concerned he's no more of a threat than Yildrim. Except keyboard warriors are hyping the f.uck outta him.

lmaoooo. Who is everyone? Literally, you are probably the only person on earth that would make that comment and comparison. Yeah you’re delusional and desperate for this fight not to happen out of fear that the man you adore will get beat.

Well, show me a fight where Benavidez is this big threat then. Point me to a fight I must've not seen that shows him defeating someone in Canelo's caliber. Both Yldrim and Benavidez went into the late rounds with Anthony Dirrell. So how are the comparisons not apt?

And who said I didn't want to see the fight? I just want you Benavidez fanboys to admit he wants to sit on his ass and not challenge himself and go straight to the Canelo fight. All he wants to be defined as is his one fight with Canelo. Already late September, he hasn't fought since May, will not fight for the rest of the year, his last fight was against a GGG and Saunders leftover, and if Canelo does sit out until September of 2023, Benavidez will A. also sit out waiting on Canelo's next move or B. fight some bum and then sit out and wait on Canelo's next move. This dude has that participation trophy mentality.

You want to list fighters who under performed like Canelo did? that's pointless. . You must be on drugs if you think that version of GGG was still elite. He only started fighting in the 9th round. A legit great fighter in their prime would have stopped him. Benavidez would have sent him to Hospital.

Benavidez is the only person to stop Dirrell. The same Dirrell who beat Yidilgrim. You have some audacity to be talking about going into the late rounds when Canelo was gassed in the late rounds against a 40 yr old who has barely fought over the last 4 yrs. Bivol hadn’t beaten anyone elite either and he beat Canelo with ease, so your logic is irrelevant. People who know boxing, know the threat Benavidez brings to Canelo. People who don’t know boxing and only love Canelo for national nationalistic reasons like you, make weak excuses to justify ducking.
