The man has a granite chin. David is a tough opponent, and I definitely think he can win, and also think Canelo can outbox and hurt him.
There's a chance David could make the pace faster than Canelo likes and exhaustion could factor into a stoppage. Not outside the realm of possibility. I think it's unlikely but not impossible.

Only a casual would think its impossible to stop any fighter. A volume power puncher is capable of stopping anyone.

Wait until after the Bivol Zurdo fight.

I swear Benavidez is like the kid in class that was grouped to have a group project, gets suspended comes back at the very end and wants credit because he was in the group at the very beginning.

This is what happens when kids get those participation trophies, they grow up to be entitled sh.its that don't want to put any work in and think they're entitled to big things for doing minimal effort.

Don’t be a moron. Smith, Yidilgrim, Saunders and Plant have combined to beat just 4 former champions between all 4 of them. Did you have any issue with those fights? You just know Benavidez is a real threat and wanna blame him for Canelo and the entire 168 avoiding him.

I think his ego was damaged when he lost to Bivol and he cannot take losing another fight or potentially getting knocked out. I think if Canelo is a true champion that he will fight the best at super middleweight. The same way that Lennox Lewis fought Michael Grant, David Tua, etc. Or Holyfield fighting Bowe, Moorer, etc. At some point Canelo has to take more risks.
Agreed except for the "low reward" part. A Canelo-Benavidez fight is a huge fight right now .... the gate would be tremendous, PPV's would be huge, and interest in the USA and Mexico would be very high. Internationally would do well also. It's a bad matchup for Canelo as Benavidez is so tall and long. Canelo would have to dig deeper than he's used to digging to win this fight (he couldn't dig deep enough for Bivol). I'm sure his team is very against this fight.

That said, it's not automatic that Benavidez wins. It's a dangerous step up for him. He would have to curb being reckless and making mistakes. I would favor him to win though.

Agree. Benavidez can win Canelo by KO. Canelo knows it, that's why he avoids Benavidez. Canelo fought Bivol because Bivol looked vulnerable in his last fights, and in the case of loosing he had excuse like 'Bivol is 175 pounder'. But if Canelo looses to Benavidez, then he has no excuse.

Ha ha ha, this guy watches too many marvel movies, thinks his son is some kind of super hero. Problem is he has never stopped ANYONE even close to canelo's level, so basically he's just full of s#it and anyone with half a brain wouldn't take him seriously.

Benavides can’t beat Canelo not now not until Canelo gets old, Benavides has no defense or chin, once he faces a counter puncher like Canelo he will get dropped, let’s be honest, Benavides hasn’t fought any top guy yet,
so yeah Canelo will knock his ass out cold

lol at the fan boys in this thread still thinking Canelo stops David when he couldn't even hurt a 40 year old yesterday who barely threw anything, and gassed out more than old man he fought.
You haven’t watched boxing all that long have you? I can give you 8 fights with the EXACT same scenario. All champs, all prime on 40+ yo boxers.

                      you game?
