But the reality is he is no Floyd. When Floyd won fights that people debate the decision like Maidana and Castillo, he rematched them again straight away instead of getting the win and running with, Which he could have. Canelo on the other hand didn’t rematch Lara, waited 4 years til GGG was 40 etc.

That’s why he will never be Mayweather because Mayweather gave chances to young fighters like Canelo who was supposed to be a challenge to him and he would rematch people straight away even though he got the win.
You make some very solid points! Good Post!

      DUMBASS ALERT
First, You would need to dig your head out your ass pal. I know a lot of Mexicans who discriminate against other Mexicans and Canelo Alvarez just so happens to be one of them. He doesn't want to see any other Mexican fighter to succeed and surpass him.

Both Al Haymon and Floyd Mayweather has done more for the Mexican people and its fighters than Saul Canelo Alvarez has. Who covets the position of being the be all and end all of Mexican fighters. He would rather lose to any other nationality, race or ethnic group than to a Mexican fighter.

I don't care how much Canelo achieves in the sport of boxing he will never be remembered as one of the all-time great Mexican fighters like: Julio Cesar Chavez, Erik Morales, Salvador Sanchez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, Ricardo Lopez and a host of others.

That is so true! He wants to reign supreme over all Mexican boxing.

Well Canelo isn't wrong but by doing this he isn't allowing Benavidez to accomplish anything, Canelo is the one who holds all the belts and with way more influence so if he rejects him under this pretext all of his opposition will use this same argument.

Unless he becomes a mandatory for the belt any elite fighter would be fighting for, which it doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon with Canelo around at supermiddleweight division for the years to come.

Oh how i miss the days of Pernell Whitaker, Julio Cesar Chavez and Oscar De La Hoya. These fighters were all people's champions. They allowed the fans to choose their next opponents for them. If the people wanted Oscar to fight Felix Trinidad he fought Felix Trinidad. When the people wanted Chavez to fight Hector Camacho he fought Hector Camacho and when the people demanded Whitaker versus Chavez, Pernell fought Chavez and the list goes on and on!

Canelo did build a horrible reputation of ruining the lives of Mexican boxers inside and outside the right.

              Such as:

-Breaking the jaw and retiring Ulises Solis a former Junior Flyweight Champion who got stripped because he was recovering from a broken jaw.

-Beated a retired lightweight called Javier Jauregui in sparring to death from a brain hemorrhage, he worked under Chepo Reynoso to make things worse.

-Humiliated the son Julio Cesar Chavez Sr into a downward spiral even if he had decent skills at best. Ruining his reputation and heavily resorting to drug use due to the influence Canelo had in his followers.

-Derailing Alfonso Gomez who holds notable victories over former world champions Arturo Gatti, Jose Luis Castillo, and Peter Manfredo Jr. and fought Cotto with an injury. He lost everything, became a drug addict and homeless in the streets.

As for Benavidez he probably knows that beating him will be difficult as Bivol and it will do him no favors.

Only those born in Mexico can hold the Mantle of currently being the best of Mexico, Benavidez doesn't fit the criteria reason why you don't see guys like De La Hoya, Johnny Tapia and Mikey Garcia not being that well recognized by the Mexican Public.

Though that is not a problem, they all built a name for themselves.

This, his claim to fame is beating a shot dirrel, left over from the super 6 era and a shot lemeiux. Like we are supposed to be super impressed by that. Its his job to make the public demand that canelo fight him, he could do that by beating someone with a pulse.
