Comments Thread For: Teddy Atlas Feels Anthony Joshua Has Been an 'Overrated Guy"

Atlas isn’t wrong. Like many other boxers, guys with large fan bases tend to get overrated. The Uk fans backed Joshua which helped his status but in the ring he has limited skills and even more limited heart. He can’t push through adversity.Comment

Overrated, Underrated, Rated, it is all irrelevant really.
Joshua is underrated and overrated. When I use these words, I am mainly speaking about fight ability.
His endurance and skill for skill boxing ability is better than people claim. Especially in today's era of Heavyweights.
But Joshua has no inside game, no idea how to also tie a fighter up 'Not much rough house skills, and the inability to fight a good big man fight'.
Overall I think Joshua's resume is good, I still rate his win over Wladimir Kiltschko higher than Fury's win. Kiltschko was in better condition, and had endured three back to back training camps.
No matter what people say, Joshua is still one of the main players in the game. In mass people gloated and mocked him in the aftermath of the Usyk loss. The critics were fantasizing about his demise. Weeks later he has the WBC Heavyweight Champion of the world pestering him for a fight.
And the truth is? Joshua does not need Fury. Joshua's next fight without Fury, is bigger than Fury's next fight without Joshua 'Providing Fury does not face Usyk'.
Joshua if he wants to now, could really just go away and do his own thing. No real pressure to capture titles or whatever.
But I sense that will not be his target, which may see him get a title fight quicker than expected. Joshua may win another title, but I think he could be missing area's of his game which do not support him being a dominate Champion.
Jab needs to improve, also his big man styled fight skills need to improve. Whatever happens, I think this next chapter in his carer is the most intriguing.
The Glory Hunters and opportunist may not think like that, but real appreciative boxing fans will. There is no easy way out.
tell me you’ve never ever boxed without telling me you’ve never ever boxed…..
ladies and gentleman , I introduce to you, Prince Kool Aid. Because boy you be slurping Joshua kool aid despite you being proven wrong time after time after time after time.
You must be trolling. Wlad was in better shape coming off inactivity that any boxing brain worth a grain of salt know inactivity KILLS FIGHTERS.
I seriously pity you. I’d honestly kill myself if I had you’re mind.
and btw. You “rate” AJ win more because you despise Tyson fury. Just like 95% of all Joshua fans on here do.
i would honestly overdose on OxyContin if I was you.
You’re funny to look and laugh at though. I will give you that,Comment

I love Teddy's show on youtube, the fight club, so insightful and great analysis.
I do think he's a tad harsh on Joshua and Canelo though. Joshua and Fury would be an exciting fight, and I think AJ has a fair chance, but not a big chance, of an upset victory.Comment

I dont know about Wlad being in better shape for AJ etc etc but it would have been interesting to see how a Wlad/Fury rematch would have played out. I definitely feel its possible that Wlad could have been a bit complacent and caught off guard in the first fight and might have been more aggressive and motivated the second time around.
I think Kiltschko definitely would of done better in the rematch.

I want some of what your smokin.
Better resume?? Your parroting Hearn, take away all the shot old past it 38-41 year olds (4of6) & who's left on Kanyes resume?? Parker, Whyte ranked 22, Ruiz #15 & Usyk.
Meanwhile Usyk cleared out the best of the best in one division & then gave Kanye 2 boxing lessons.
Aj had 2 rival's in the division & he's never boxed either of them & still lost 3 times.

Wlad didn’t throw his hands more in fight one because fury was barely ever a stationary target in my opinion. Also WK was wary of what would come back if he opened up more. Fury was bigger than Wladimir and knew how to use it.
Fury offsets fighters a Lot with his feints and unorthodox styles. His handspeed is easily in top 3 fastest hands. He freezes opponents we’ve seen it countless times. He did it to wilder in fight 2. He did it to Whyte at Wembley.
However I cannot stand here today and tell you I think the rematch wouldn’t be interesting. Of course it would, Wlad is a legend who deserved that chance of a rematch, even if he would of lost in two rounds, he did deserve the chance IMO.Last edited by RoadMan94; 09-13-2022, 08:21 AM.Comment

More overhyped than anything. In a short time he has a good resume but has lost here and there. Still one of the top HW out there at this moment.Comment
