What hurts more? A 4oz MMA gloves or an 8oz boxing glove with the knuckle padding pushing up against it.

Talking about punches here. Just curious as to the gloves. No need to be so defensive. You seem to get upset whenever you believe someone Is trying to make it seem that boxing is tougher or better than UFC. (Which it is, hehehe)

so how come we don’t see that many headshot KO’s in the UFC?

Because boxing is only about punching people in the face, primarily. In MMA, you have other avenues for disabling an opponent. Grappling, wrestling, judo, whatever. It's the way people fight, not necessarily the gloves or anything like that. You can kick in MMA, and that delivers the most force, bar none. It's just that you aren't always going for a person's head. That would be way too predictable.

Yes, guys go the body too in. boxing but going to the body in boxing leaves you open more than going to the head, so you'll see most of the punches directed toward the head of the opponent.

To put it simply, it's how you fight, not what you fight with. That's why you see more KO's in one than the other.

There is actually, why would you say there isn't?

Since UFC 31, there have been a total of 546 fights inside the octagon. Of these, 225 have ended by knockout, 138 by submission, 141 by unanimous decision, 31 by split decision, three by majority decision, and three by disqualification. There have also been three draws and two no-contests.

225 knockouts is around 46%, that's almost half.

Additionally, there are a lot more weapons, boney weapons =---> to consider. Lastly, fighters get somewhat conditioned to the gloves the longer they fight/train, but at the end of the day you only need x amount of x before the lights go off.

I've done them both (only competed in boxing, not mma...only trained) and mma gloves are like concrete.

Now if MMA didn't have submissions and it was just punches (no kicks, elbows, etc), I'm sure the knockouts would be exponentially higher than boxing.

Those 225 knockouts are from punches?? I just don’t believe the gloves are more harder than boxing’s. But again, just my opinion. Will have to try it out myself.

Fists hit harder, but boxing is more dangerous.

You can’t consistently punch effectively with 4oz gloves because you can seriously hurt your hands/wrist. Hence the hammer blows, back fists, slaps.

0 deaths in the UFC since it started in 1993. 42 deaths in pro boxing since 1993.

Boxers have the liberty of punching as effectively as they please, as consistently hard as they please, and as many punches as their stamina allows them to punch, for all 4-12 rounds.

Also in boxing, you get knocked down hard, and stand up and are on ***** street, the fight isn’t automatically over. You can continue to take a beating while already concussed and out on your feet.

I don't know, the data doesn't show whether it's punches or not. You can believe the sky is pink, doesn't mean it's not blue. It's not an opinion, mma gloves are like cement, facts. Sounds like your mind is set to what anybody says in comparison.

You're not being reasonable or flexible so why make a thread asking a question then?

MMA gloves are definitely harder but the knockouts are misleading. You see more knockouts in MMA due to the smaller gloves which gives less defense unlike boxing gloves you cannot block shots so easily . Also add in stoppages from kicks , elbows ,knees etc .

You also have different rules per round time mostly 3 rounds for 5 minutes so the pace is usually faster
