Ortiz is still buzzed from those knockdowns. It was a fight of strategy. Ruiz wanted to counter and so did Ortiz. Ortiz had the jab but Ruiz had the power shots. It must have seemed like a war for Ortiz taking those shots.

Yeah you’re right they were both trying to counter. When both guys are sitting back waiting for the other guy to make the move first, it’s a boring fight and is NOT a war! That’s not what a war is.

Ruiz could’ve gotten him out of there if he really wanted to. He had his man hurt. Even if Ortiz wasn’t really hurt bad, if Ruiz just touched him a few more times really good, the ref probably would’ve stopped it, but no.

Ruiz hung back because he gave Ortiz more respect than Ortiz deserved at this stage in Ortiz’s career.

Ortiz can still throw hands and box, but his punch resistance is nearly gone.
