I doubt Marquez is gonna stay in Welterweight division for now on.

I just rewatched booze free and JMM landed some real nice shots too.

Only an idiot would think this diminishes him in any way.
It doesn't diminish him at all, but we're real boxing fans. Casual fans who saw him for the first time probably won't want to watch him again.

this fight could ruin his career. he might have hurt his rep w/ the mexican fanbase. the only way jmm might get another shot at pac is if he cleans out 140 lbs and all those are hard ass fights.

this was a good fight to cash out on, but if he really wanted to continue boxing, it was the wrong fight to take.

"Exposure" works when you get in front of a big stage and perform well and everyone wants to see you fight again. This wasn't THAT kind of exposure. It was more like the kind where every casual fan just "exposed" Marquez and saw him as an unskilled bum getting absolutely owned and manhandled at a 15% connect rate. I highly doubt any casual fans will want to watch him fight again.

i gave marquez a full respect for fighting a man who has 15-20lbs bigger than him and standing for 12 rounds.

as i said, more people will know his name. like i also said, im happy that the commentating team gave spotlight on how marquez was a light weight and was at a major disadvantage, as in the post fight interview: "marquez is a great little man". name recognition gets you places in some way some form. look at ricky hatton, he got embaraseed and got his head smashed into a ring post, alot more people knew him than when he was fighting jose luis castillo, he then was able to make another super fight a litlle over a year later.

Losing that extra muscle to go back to 135…at 36 years old is gonna be tough….especially the psychological effects of being dominated will linger….going to 140 and facing the young killers in that division doesn’t look good either….this bout might have been a career killer

I don't think the score cards reflected just how well Marquez did, all things considered.. He hit Mayweather in the face more often than most people do.. He just lacked the power to do any damage.. But Floyd knew that coming in..
