Wasn’t impressed with either fighters, especially Ruiz.
I had the fight 114-111 Ortiz.
Rds 1,3,4,5,6,8,9,10 and 12 for Ortiz
Rds 2 (10-7),7(10-8) and 11 for Ruiz
All Ruiz wants to do is fight on the inside and use his speed, which explains why AJ schooled him in their rematch. Very one dimensional fighter. Modern day Buster Douglas.
Ortiz needs to retire because he’s finished. His punch resistance was exposed in his previous fight against Martin, but luckily got away with it.Castilo likes this.

As you pointed out it's very possible he doesn't get through Helenius despite all his shortcomings one thing he isn't short of is power in both hands, he'll arguably be the biggest puncher Wilder has ever faced and that's coming off the back of two shellacking's.
But it will most certainly be an interesting fight should it happen but I'd prefer if Wilder was calling out AJ/Usyk then the Ruiz's of the world.
I agree with almost everything you said. But a big no-no that I saw in your comment was describing Wilder as a 2 handed power puncher. It is common knowledge that Wilder is a 1 handed fighter when it comes to power. He would have a very good jab if he took his technique more serious. But when it comes to his KOs they are quite possibly 100% based off of his right hand

Ruiz drop Ortiz hard a few times and buzzed him really good on other occasions and still this fight felt a bit lackluster. Ruiz had way better legs than Ortiz, was hitting him with better punches, hurting Ortiz anytime he connected decently and yet he would take his foot off the gas and play it safe. There was one round that Ruiz threw almost nothing...I think they said he landed 1 firkin' punch ! Ortiz looked like a baby doe with his horrible balance and how often he got hurt. Ruiz definitely had the skill and power to knock Ortiz out but he didn't want to apply himself and work for it. Instead he took rounds off to rest...Ruiz needs to improve his stamina a lot, so that he will have confidence that he could push the pace. I actually doubt we'll even see Ruiz improve at this point. He does NOT need to be 268 lbs! It definitely hurts his endurance. I think his laziness inside the ring tonight is an extension and manifestation of his laziness in training camp. He's naturally talented/ gifted but his weakness is his ability to push himself. Laziness.
Frustrating fight. Ruiz had more to give but didn't give it, and Ortiz looked fragile with really bad balance.Boxingmean likes this.
