I ask of you, what is one to do when faced with an adversary whose forces number half that of your own?

Give Marquez credit for hanging in there and finishing on his feet. Mayweather was trying to stop him, but couldn't without taking risks he wasn't willing to take against the dangerous Mexican.

Than all the pacman fans will say ; aww did you see how much bigger cotto was , manny was to small blah blah blah. I like cotto alot and also mosley, and pacman but its just that floyd is at a whole nother level
You hit it right on the head. The only thing I have to add to that is that Manny would probably be knocked out cold cuz he couldnt avoid Money's right hand. Anyway well see what's next for JMM? He's my favorite fighter, I think an interesting fight would be Juan Urango at 140. He's a freaking bull but I think JMM could counter those looping punches and get a desicion that would give him a championship at a 4th weightclass and put him above Barrera and Morales even Chavez, maybe Soto at 135, that fight would probably make some Mexican ppv money. I think he's too old to mess with these up and coming guys like Valero, Katsidis, Kahn, Bradley, two fights max and wait on the HOF.

I don't think giving Marquez one or two rounds was unreasonable at all. It's not like Floyd was landing thirty punches a round, and Marquez had his moments. It was way more unbelievable that two of the judges found rounds to give Pavlik when he played combo dummy for Hopkins last October.

I've seen both Mosley and Mayweather at their respective "peaks", ande.....believe me, Mayweather is definitely NO Mosley.

Mosley was an absolutely superb fighter, a killer in the ring, and lightning fast.

I don't believe that Marquez wanted to fight Mayweather to "test himself" or any such nonsense. I strongly believe that he knew that Mayweather was better, and would beat him, but wanted the large purse, most likely the most by far he has ever been paid. I wouldn't be surprised if he retires by year end. He was bolstering up his retirement fund.

I'll bet he was surprised when he was knocked down in the second round, since Mayweather is not noted for punching power.

AND..........don't forget that Marquez was at a 5" reach disadvantage, as well as being very battle-worn. I read that he said ZMayweather was about 20 lbs heavier than he at fight time.

I think, regardless of how many titles Marquez, or anyone else wins, they won't be classed by Mexican fight enthusiasts above Julio Cesar Chavez. He was a national hero.

There's no "always" about it. Frazier beat Ali the first time they fought. Duran beat Leonard the first time they fought. Hearns, Hamsho and Moore beat Benitez. Sammy Angott beat Willie Pep. There are hundreds of other examples. Great defence does not always beat great offence. That's the lesson you need to learn by finding out about boxing history.

He used the Art of War to back up his case, as if ancient military tactics somehow should apply to boxing.
