IMO floyd is not as accurate as cotto. when floyd is pressured he throws ****ty punches(castillo 1), the only time floyd is more accurate than cotto is when you let him stay outside or when he dances out of the way. Also, punch speed is not that much different IMO. Overall tho, I have to agree with you floyd has more skill.

I don't see where, beyond Pac's god given hand and foot speed, his skills are so superior to Cotto's.
If anything, I think Cotto clearly has better boxing skills. Cotto posseses a pace dictating job, he's a better counter puncher. Pac's got him on head movement.
I mean I guess it's debatable, I personally think Cotto is more skilled and Pac has just had his god given talent harnessed by Roach. He's way more skilled than he used to be, but he's still more of a speedy brawler than anything.Comment

cotto is a very good boxer but you might not see it that way.Comment

floyd is more accurate.
and there is also a big difference in hand speed. i don't get where you get the idea of they're hand speed not being much different.Comment

See this is something I don't really understand.

speed , power , etc. are natural skills.
punching technique , head movement , footwork , etc. are technical skills.
i think pacquiao edges him in both natural and technical skills.
pacquiao might not box like most people think skilled boxers box but his punching technique , footwork , head movement , etc. are top notch.Comment

bud , cotto likes to fight up close and floyd fights from a distance and cotto throws more that's why it looks like he's more accurate and lands more.
floyd is more accurate.

cotto's punching speed is deceptive and that comes from the fighter's overall movement. maybe coz he know how to shorten his punches in close up situations and that is what makes the speed deceptive.Last edited by Aracibo04; 09-21-2009, 12:07 AM.Comment

there's 2 types of skills. technical skills and natural skills.

In terms of natural skills, I agree Pac as got that one pretty clearly.Comment

I'm favoring Pac but...I don't know how he'll react when Cotto lands a good shot on him...which will happen cuz Pac isn't the type to stay outta danger all night...
And Cotto has shown he can be weared down...Pac may not have the one punch power to hurt him but accumulation of punches can doom him...especially if he can't find Pac...Comment

nah! here in puerto rico everyone's relaxed about the upcoming fight with pac. everyone i've talked to, they're all a 100% sure cotto is going to beat pac easily. i share the same thought. i'm really thinking about what's coming after the fight with pac. i'm excited about pac-cotto, but just looking forward to it to see manny get ko'd so perhaps the bandwagon stops. but i know cotto should take it easily.. we've followed the guy through his entire career and have no doubt he'll be able to handle manny and cause severe damage to the guy.
the guy has fought with warriors.. he's been in wars.. he's been hit by real welterweights. no punch of mannys will hurt him.. and manny has never felt the power of a true welter like cotto. it's really a lop sided fight in my eyes. can't wait for november 14th to finally hear what cotto wants and what their plans will be.
well, here in the phillipines?
everyone ive talked to, theyre all exited whos going to be next victim after he finished cotto.. hahahahaComment
