Comments Thread For: Ruiz: Wilder Would Be An Amazing Fight; Not Overlooking Ortiz, But Easy To Make

Andy Ruiz Jr. is well aware of the fight that might await him if Ruiz can beat Luis Ortiz on September 4. Matching Ruiz against Deontay Wilder in what would be a battle between former heavyweight champions makes perfect sense. Ruiz and Wilder will headline FOX Sports Pay-Per-View shows a little less than six weeks apart and they're the highest-profile Premier Boxing Champions-affiliated heavyweights who haven't fought.

“If Ruiz wins, it’s not if, it’s a matter of when,” Wilder told co-hosts Kenneth Bouhairie and Michael Rosenthal.

Hell yeah! That's what I want to hear! Now they gotta win first, and no guarantees on that!

If Ortiz catches Ruiz with the same overhand right that Arreola threw to knock him down, it's goodnight Andy.

Foreman won a HW title at 45 so I won’t count out Ortiz quite yet. Ruiz is the favourite but he has discussed a Wilder fight more than once since this fight was made. He better not be overlooking Ortiz. This isn’t Michael Bentt or Jesse Ferguson… Ortiz is still dangerous…

Wilder would KO Andy , he gets caught too much and that's not good when dealing with Wilder.

Perhaps, but I think fans get a bit too caught up in the Wilder power mystique. Deontay does not knock out opponents with every punch he throws. It's pretty much always just clean right hands that do the job. He could land one of those on Ruiz, but Andy has shown a good chin and excellent recuperative powers. I'd also be willing to bet that Andy lands 2-1 on Wilder. Andy doesn't have as heavy of hands, but he throws in combination and often lands clean 2, 3, 4-punch combos which can hurt any heavyweight. I think this is an exciting matchup that could go either way. Wilder will, of course, be the betting favorite, but then Ruiz wouldn't have it any other way.

Not so sure,Ruiz recovers pretty well like Fury. Ruiz got dropped by a clean, hard left hook from Joshua but still had his legs under him. Right after he got up,he ate a straight right right on the button in thier next exchange that would've finished off most heavies. Wouldn't suprise me if Wilder couldnt put Ruiz away.

Too fat in the midsection to bend, so his head will be on a platter for Wilder. Wilder is more mobile around 220 so he'll stay out of Ruiz's hook range. Joshua and Areola were touching him up with rights. I have to go back and watch Ortiz, thought he was mostly left-hand dominant like Lara, not much of a right.

Ruiz would outbox wilder for some rounds, until wilder gets him and that's black out.
