I agree with u on round 9. Could have gone to Lara. In my opinion, it was a tighter round than the 5th. Lara landed a couple of nice counter right hooks in close and pivotef away. Canelo was nearly exclusively targeting the body. According to compubox he landed more punches in the round and more power punches and as you yourself have said "Power reigns supreme".
I scored it to canelo. In my previous 2 scorecards I wrote swing round, so I have no issue with somebody scoring it for Lara

I only have 15 seconds so I couldn't capture every jab and bodyshot landed, but these are mostly the best shots as well as stuff you mentioned.



Canelo is already deep in the hole at that point by 2:17 whiffing really hard missing everything.

Canelo did land 2 good body shots at 1:58, still body shots though which get scored lower than headshots do (unless it's a knockdown).

As you can see, those 4 body shots you mentioned aren't all landing. We see clearly 2 to the back which aren't scored because they don't land in a scoreable area. The 2 we don't see, one looks blocked by the elbow, hard to know though. If anything, 2 body shots (not 4) and body shots do not count like head shots do (unless it's a knockdown), otherwise Malignaggi would have beaten Broner 118-110.



There is no indication the body shots are having an effect and those are 100% not clean punches, they land in an illegal zone my friend.

Those are blanket statements from Bernstein, nobody likes body shots, it's very general. But if you want to get molecular, illegal shots to the body will bother anyone.

apologies for not getting back sooner. i was having technical difficulties uploading my pics but i think ive solved it so in the words of Buffer, "lets get ready to RUMBLE!!!
Where in the scoring criteria for boxing does it say that bodypunching is scored less than head punching??? Did Jerry tell you that or did you make it up yourself?
Either way its not true, so lets put that to bed.
Also please don't compare feather fisted Paulie's body punching to Canelo's. Thats just silly.

Regarding the bodyshots at 2:16, canelo threw 6 punches. The first one was around the back, fair enough. but the 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th punches clearly landed cleanly, and here they are....

I hope those images have loaded. As u can see, those are 4 perfectly legal, clearly landed body punches. Not around the back or below the belt line.

Now to the 2 "illegal shots at 1:46 - 1:42...

As you can see, the first punch at 1:45 is fine, just behind laras arm connecting with the side of his body.
From my screenshot, the second shot at 1:42, looks OK to me. Look at where canelo's taped arm is with respect to lara's waistband. Again, to me it looks fine.
The next 2 screenshots are directly after that second punch, as Lara is complaining to the referee. Look at how high his trunks are. His waistband is closer to his nipple than his hip lol
Incidentally Byrd didn't admonish canelo until Lara complained for the second time. Bad refereeing in my opinion. He didn't see the low punch or he saw it and thought it was ok. Lara might have conned him there.

But I'm not a canelo zealot and I try to be fair, so I'll give u that second shot and won't count it as a landed punch.

You next mention bodyshots scoring less than headshots. Ive covered that. It's just not true.

Now we come to compubox. You say canelo lands 4 power punches in round 5.
So I did what you asked and went back and counted by hand. I've counted 33 power punches thrown and 10 landing. Let's call it 9 if we don't count the "hip" shot. And here they are

Clearly landed shots. Around the elbows, underneath the elbows, through the guard with the uppercut.
Also combubox didn't credit canelo with landing 5 jabs in that round too, from 12 thrown. They said he landed zero jabs

I couldn't get one if those jabs perfectly screenshotted, but if u don't believe it landed, u can go to the time in the round and u can see and hear it landed.


You say at the end of your post that Lara lands the harder shots.
I mean.... That's not even worthy of a response, my friend.

If you think body shots are counted the same as the head YDKSAB and need to go back to the drawing board. In the amateurs trainers tell their fighters to avoid body shots as much as possible, facts.

Think about it, the body is a bigger piece of meat and more area to hit, the head is smaller, why would you get the same scoring for a target that's eaiser to hit? Also, the head is much more fragile because there's a BRAIN in there. Very few body shots hurt, like 3 places on the entire torso.
